Title: Remember that theater I talked about w/ cult classic showings? CHECK THIS OUT!
Post by: The Fake Shemp on March 21, 2008, 12:31:50 PM
COREY FELDMAN will be live in person to kick off their second year of "Midnight Movie Madness" with The Goonies! :lol

This is easily worth $15 to see a celebrity trainwreck in person.  How low does your career go when you're going to one screen movie theaters in a small suburb of the East Bay area?

I think he just needs money.  The usually charge like $8 for a ticket - it's $20 for folks who don't subscribe to their newsletter ($15 for me!).  So that extra money is going to feed Corey Feldman.

They're kicking off "Midnight Movie Madness" with the following flicks:

The Lost Boys
The Goonies
The Wiz (Never seen it, kind of want to)
Monty Python and The Holy Grail (I'd see this, but nerds will ruin it for me!)
Mystery Science Theatre 3000: The Movie (good flick, probably will catch it!)
Blade Runner (yes!!!)

jesus i skipped out on monty python and the holy grail at the afi for fear of theater tech losers ruining the film

though i'd def go see MST3k the movie

Yeah, people will ruin Monty Python.  My two favorite screenings thus far were Army of Darkness (because a real fight ensued) and Ghostbusters (which I never saw on the big screen).

I just hope people don't MST3K the MST3K movie.

That happened at Army of Darkness.  Some group of hooligans started loudly shouting non memorable lines (it was kind of funny) and a few audience members got really upset.  It deteriorated in to fullout name calling and insults ("Shut the fuck up, taco bitch!"  "I'll kick your ass!").  The theatre owners had to come in and settle everyone down.  I told CrystalGemini that the hooligans would yell one more time and bolt - and they did as predicted.

Then some folks got upset and started a fight outside, but CrystalGemini wouldn't let me stay to watch the brawl. :lol

I watched Lost Boys for the first time a few years ago.  I watched it once.  I'm sure it would have been better if I watched it with friends or something.

It's The Egyptian! Of course it wins.  That's like comparing it to the Arclight classic cinema showings or the Alamo Drafthouse.

This is a one screen theatre in the middle of Castro Valley (population: a few thousand asian and christian white people), not Seattle or Austin.  It's old and haunted (I'm not kidding, it used to be a playhouse before it was a movie theater), and this is just the second anniversary of them doing something like this.  They made so much money last year, they were able to renovate and put in actual, decent audience seats and a more modern sound system (I think they were using mono - I kid!).

Patel is good times.  A little bit introverted, but fun to talk to, has great tastes and can forget more about music than I'll ever know.
