oh my god, i went to chipotle for lunch with 3 coworkers.
thank god there was someone else there that was hispanic that could complain with me. Let's start...
-white rice in a burrito. WHAT THE FUCK
-the salsa is lol worthy
-no refried beans? what the fuck?
-80% rice, 10% meat, 10% other shit. what the fuck?
-cilantro in white rice! who thought this was a good idea???
-stupid white hipsters who think they're cultured because they're eating a "fresh" burrito
i hate that place. i haven't been to one in like 2 years and thought maybe I was just harsh. but that place is horrible.
and the stupid kid from work "oh man this salsa is too hot for me". the girl and i were just like "no. what the fuck is wrong with you?"
oh and the worst part...
6 fucking dollars for something that shouldn't cost more than 3!!!!!!
-
:rock
i feel you man. fuck that place. the food has gotten worse over the years.
-
yes and it's bad for you
i went there on saturday because i was starving and it was the closest quickest thing to me
but normally, i avoid like the plague
-
I actually like Chipotle. But, yeah, it's full of yuppies. Especially since Chipotle sends that eco, organic foods message. Have you ever read what's on the paper cups? Talk about pretentious. The best Mexican food in NYC is in Queens, which is off some ways from where I live and work. That's some authentic stuff in Queens.
-
thank christ
I live in socal so it's not like there's any shortage of good mexiplaces
and I still have coworkers who SWEAR by chipotle
wtf
-
I've heard of Chipotle but I don't think I've ever eaten at one. Sounds like I'm not missing out. MMMmmm, cheese enchiladas. :drool
-
thank christ

In Manhattan, where I work, there is no good Mexican places at all. Socal and Texas craps all over "Mexican" food in NYC. Again, Queens is the exception.

tell me about it! I live in Houston. SW Houston. There are 10 taquerias within a 2 mile radius but they all love that fucking place. smh

yeah, i hate that shit. and i hate having a taste argument with yuppies about it because then they bring up the stupid organic shit and act like they're saving the world by eating an overpriced shitty burrito.
-
I go there occasionally with some of my co-workers. We get the ultra hook-up because I am so sexy (or because the employees are friends with my co-workers, but I doubt that's the reason), which amounts to about double the normal quantity of food. I don't think it's that bad either, but I'm white and hate spicy food, so what do I know?

There are a lot of Ricans. There food is quite different actually. Rice, corn, and legumes are major staples in both cuisines, but other ingredients and cooking techniques vary considerably.

yup. white people.
whataburger is the shit :rock

I had my first whataburger in 18 months 2 weeks ago. :drool
Sorry I missed you in Houston, but I ended up not renting a car so I was 100% dependent on other people for transportation to/from Galveston.
-
:yuck

-
Whataburger :drool
Too bad we don't have any chains in the Northeast.

the cilantro is what makes it mexican. :lol
smh @ chipotle
-
yeah the white rice + cilantro is really bizarre
but it tastes okay. :\
-
i think there's some lime added too, which helps it out a bit.
but spanish rice... :drool :drool :drool

Did you guys ever read about the guy who started Chipotle, Steve Ells? He's a CIA trained chef, whose worked in some of the best restaurants in the country. He has mentioned that Chipotle is a loose interpretation of Mexican food, that's why you see rice in burritos, cilantro-lime rice, and all the other non-authentic stuff. It was also founded in Denver, Colorado if that means anything.

Really? So was Qdobo, I think.

i had it once in Chicago, they fed me an ostrich egg filled with rice instead of a burrito
-

For some reason, it seems that nearly every big chain emerges from the same 3 medium sized cities: Denver, Atlanta, and Minneapolis. I think Quiznos came out of Denver as well.

Eric P, your new tag is the epigram for Wolfe's Pirate Freedom!
-
Chipotle may suck, but Qdoba sucks MUCH MUCH MORE
-
Their pulled pork is good, and you can take a bottle of my favorite hot sauce, green tabasco, back to your table. Their hard tacos are really good too. The only other quick taco option around here is taco bell and some new place called Del Taco that's suspect. Don't be hatin'.
I think Mupepe is just being like how asians and japafags scoff at americanized chinese food even though it's awesome. Which is understandable.

hl mencken is a great american

If I order a fucking burrito, it better be from a place with a name I can barely prounouce right and there better be someone on the other end taking my order who has to keep from laughing from my terrible pronuciation when ordering said burrito.
Anything else isn't worth getting IMO. Glad there is a nice hispanic community here where I live to provide those places.
-
I thought it was Navy or SEALs, not CIA.

no no no, because i eat and love my taco bell. but there are basics that chipotle totally misses. it's really just some kind of hippie food joint instead of a mexican food joint imo.
-

speaking of which, this thread inspired me to go to my local burrito joint "el buen gusto." ordered a SUPER BURRITO (spanish rice, refried beans, cheese, salsa, pollo asado, and guac).
i'm fucking FULLLLL.

Chipotle actually satisfies both of those conditions for me. :-\

"i'll have the biff fagita."
"beef fajita?"
"yes! or should i say sih?"
"si?"
-
:lol
That's pretty much on point. :-\
-
I agree.
After hearing people practically have orgasms over how good Chipotle was, I made the drive to one. I was shocked at how expensive it was and after getting the burrito, how much it sucked. What can you expect from a company owned by McDonald's though? My friends and I went there again and had some shit that they swore by was the best. It sucked again. Never stepped foot in one since. If I want that shit, I can just go to Taco Bell and pay less for something that actually tastes halfway decent at less than half the price.
I'm a Quiznos cigarillo through and through though.
-
We have a number of pretty good locally-owned Mexican restaurants here... in fact there's a sizable Mexican population nearby.. it's great that right near where I work, in a town called "Hicksville" no less, you can get amazing Mexican, Afghani, Pakistani and Indian (northern, southern, you name it... there's even an Indian-owned pizza place, lol) cuisine, and some so-so Thai cuisine.
-
haha white rice, wtf. That's worse than having to dodge sniper fire
-

I don't think McDonald's has been involved with Chipotle for over a year. They just suck.
-

I like chipotle, yum yum yum. It's not authentic, but it also doesn't look like poop in a taco.
-
Chipotle sucks, I'd sooner have fuckin Olive Garden.
-
I still don't understand the hate for Olive Garden. Not authentic Italian in the slightest but fuck me sideways if it isn't tasty. Especially for how cheap it is.
-
I'm not a real Italian, but fuck it, olive garden is terrible.

It is a place where 14 year olds go when they want to have a "classy date."
The real hate for Italian food needs to be directed towards Fazoli's.
-
Fazoli's is hilarious :lol

Mexican food is pretty awful.
how the fuck do you not like meat and cheese?

No, but it's usually rather dull because of some of the spices used.

You will never expect a proud patriot like FoC to eat NAFTA rice.
-
I'm lucky in that there's a Baja Fresh right next to the Chipotle in my area. I think the Chipotle sucks up all the yuppies which is why the Baja Fresh always has a relatively short line except later in the day.
If I was in the mood for authentic mexican food though, there's a lot of restaurants in my area where I can get a burrito that fills up the whole plate and gives you free chips for the same price as a Chipotle rice-roll. Those aren't good for everyday lunches cause you have to eat them with a fork and knife and it takes me a while so my most common source of "burritos" is Taco Bell.
