Title: Willco Watches Emotionally Manipulative, Schmaltzy Films on Hulu: Part 2
Post by: The Fake Shemp on March 24, 2008, 07:10:01 PM
... This time, the feature is October Sky.  It was so overly sentimental I actually seriously thought it was a Ron Howard film.  But it turned out to be the Joe Johnston, the director of such genre classics as Jurassic Park 3 and something else!

Only one of them grows up to work at NASA.  One becomes a chemical engineer.  The other two stay rednecks.  And the main character went to work at NASA after he was in the armed forces and stuff.  It's not like, "HAY U BUILT TEH ROCKETS SO U WANT TO WORK AT TEH NASAS?!"

Did he?  He gets a pass, then.

The Rocketeer isn't really a directorial achievment.

WHY NOT?

Yeah, it's a totally weird selection.  A lot of crap, still, but - hey! - good stuff to play in the background while you play WoW.

I'm surprised by some of the dreck they're unloading onto Hulu.  Empire of the Ants was pretty awesome, but I'm really wary of watching Body Slam, Daughters of Satan, or The Extreme Adventures of Super Dave.

I guess it was expected that they were going to dump B and C features that they couldn't possibly make any money from anyway, but so early on?  The worst is yet to come, I suppose.

I'm gonna try to sit through Body Slam later.  It can't be worse than October Sky.

I applaud the selection of crap.  They have TEAM KNIGHT RIDER in the TV section.

October Sky is fucking horrible. Emotional dribble at its worst.

Fuck that film up the ass with a garden hose.
