I've been to the doctor three times in the past month. I am going to see two different specialists this week. I have some chronic cough that has made my throat so raw that I have trouble sleeping at night, because swallowing hurts so much. I have had this cough since December 22nd or 23rd. It has gotten better and gotten worse but never, ever gone away. It's in a pretty bad place right now. I only got 4 hours sleep last night because of it.
I WANT TO DIE. :-\
-
ditto, seen 3 doctors in two weeks. Last one gave me a run around so ill just wait it out. Taking a bunch of homeopathic stuff like usual.
I dont have the cough thing tho, that has to be annoying.
-
what homeopathic stuff are you on?
apparently this year's flu bug is a descendent of H1N1, the 1918 pandemic virus. LOL
-
But TVC has an excuse. He's got HIV.
-
hey, i saw a doctor today too!
but since google caches this forum, you will never know why!
(not becoming a woman, not std related. not becoming a man either. haw haw haw)

St Johns
5-HTP
Ginkgo Biloba
Melatonin
A mixture of the following:
Passiflora
Avena Sativa
Humulus Lupulus
Chamomilla
Might give Golden Root a shot as well.

and is that shit helping? I'll try healing crystals, at this point

That barrage of stuff is mostly centered around insomnia/anxiety-panic issues, not sure it would have much of an effect on what you have, but there's other stuff out there. I also take a centrum and two fish oil suppliments a day. I think in general this stuff helps, but it usually requires use for more than just a few days. It lacks to punch of real medicine, but i've found that it CAN help.
-
Apparently Marshmallow Root is good for coughs, but there's probably better over the counter stuff for immediate relief. Truth of it is that there isnt much in the way of insomnia/anxiety-panic stuff out there without a script, so going herbal is really all you can do if you can't get what you need through doctors.
Remedies for coughs are another case altogether.

I went in to the doctor this morning to pick up my meds and suffered immediate dizziness, chills, and hyperventilation. I got rushed to Urgent Care where they poked me full of holes, took some blood samples, stuck an IV in me, took an EKG and a cat scan and awhole bunch of other tests. Apparently, I have a small Pulmonary Embolism in my lungs, which isn't fatal or SUPER scary, but is still awkward and SOMEWHAT scary. I was given a ton of drugs (including some I have to inject myself with, druggie style) and have follow-up appointments almost every day this week.
I was also strictly forbidden from going into work until next Monday. Since I've been out of the office for 10 days already, this threatens to put me in "totally out of it" status.

:( Patel. I hope you get better soon. It had to have happened on 2.4 day, eh?
It should have been Willco or Himumu.
-
that's great news! hopefully I'll die from mine, too. then you'll have a good story to tell people on message boards.

Rant:
Homeopathic 'remedies' are about as close to pure distilled water as science can make them. Describing them as 'herbal' is quite bizarre, since it implies that there is some meaningful amount of 'herbs' in them. The whole thing is a massive scam founded on witchcraft and pseudo-scientific gobbledegook IMHO.
-
also: holy crap at Patel. That sounds horrible.
Don't feel bad about taking the goddamn week off work! And don't log in from home either. Rest, and try and get some fresh air/sunshine once in a while.
(my only qualification for lecturing is that i'm almost never sick beyond the occasional cough/runny nose..)
-
One of my uncles died of a pulmonary embolism.
well ain't you mister sensitive. jesus christ
-

Could it have been exacerbated by your recent travel, SP?
-
yeah, apparently flying internationally can do it. I had window seats on all my flights, so I wasn't moving around much.
-
Wow, so you've been sick for 3 months? Sorry to hear that, dude. Especially with a throat related illness. :(
-

I discussed this with Patel, and the thing is, not staying on top of work in some ways might exasperate stress and the like. I'm half scared to take a vacation out of fear of being behind when I do get back to work.
-
I started taking kava today, ive done my research and am pretty convinced its safe even if people who took it had liver problems. As for carmac: if my PAID PHYSICIAN would give me what I need I wouldnt need this hippie medicine so fuk off!

Feel better, Patel. I'm glad you at least have a diagnosis.
-
you didnt say fuk off!

.
-
was talkin to willco! fuk off!

FUK OFF! :gun
-
We should create a care package for Patel.
-
I hope he likes Gilmore Girls.

Hope you feel better, Patel. :(
My head problems have not completely gone away; I've felt lightheaded and had headaches nonstop for the past month. So the doctor finally told me I need a CT scan...in case it's a brain tumor. :o :o :o So I have to go in friday to have it done. I'm trying not to think about it in such a negative way, but it's hard to. I doubt I have something so extreme, though...for once an internet search of my symptoms didn't give me a bunch of "OMFG YOU'RE DEAD IN 3 HOURS!!!" responses. Some things I've tried that have helped include drinking sports drinks, OJ with sugar, a piece of chocolate, and sitting with my feet elevated when I feel weird. The doctor also thinks it could be related to my back and shoulder muscles being too tight.
EDIT: My symptoms also sound like hypoglycemia! :o

In my experience, the world continues to turn, the sun continues to rise...i'd take the stress of not being at work over the stress of actually being at work any day.
-
that's awful patel!
-
I just slept for 17 hours, whee! (2 PM to 7 AM)
I'm not that worried about this embolism thing--it was caught early, and it's being treated very severely and immediately--but it's still a bit of a bear. I wonder if it's from stress at work (just ask my office mates how draining the last few weeks have been), too much flying over the past month (eight flights, four of them 10+ hours international), or just bad timing.
I have family coming out here this week (whether I want it or not :P) to help drive me to/from all my tests as well as generally take care of me. And probably most of all, to make sure I don't try to sneak in work around the edges.
I am a super single point of failure at work, unfortunately. I trained some people up briefly before I left for my wedding/Korea trip, but they were both out Monday and Tuesday of this week. We have more staff starting in my department next week, but until then, it's a point of failure to the max.

awesome
we have a few people like that at my organization
-
I am a single point of failure to 2/3 of our product's userbase, actually.
-
so, no pressure
-
How are they related, Patel? Is the throat/sinus thing related to the pulmonary embolism or do you think anxiety caused it?
edit: Feel better, duder. :)
-
actually, they think the throat thing is caused by acid reflux
haha!
I woke up this morning to find an AIM from my ex-girlfriend (whom I haven't spoken to in months) waiting for me:
Her: I love you, dear.
Her: And I'll see you at cooking class tomorrow.
Her: Oops, wrong window.
NICE TIMING
:piss my life :piss2
-
omg :-\ that is awful
I know from my personal experience that stress is 100x worse than any physical ailment you can actually get. It makes sicknesses worse and brings on sickness-- it also induces depression and stops your desire to get better.
Your family coming to help should definitely make you feel better. I feel instantly relieved when I'm at home vs. in my dorm, for example...just that added stress factor of not feeling well and the fear of something serious with no one to take care of you.
You'll feel better once you are surrounded by people who care :)
-
wrong window? that's lol-worthy
what a cunt
:piss ex women-things :piss2
-
yeah, it's even worse, 'cause based on the first line, I thought that she was taking my extreme illness as a chance to try to patch stuff up with me.
but nooooooooo it was just a mistell meant for the guy she's fucking now
:piss women-creatures :piss2
-
wow
that sucks
-
I haven't been sick in like 3 years. In fact, I've been sick less than 4 times since seeing Unbreakable for the first time :bow

Don't worry buddy.
BTW, you just gave me a flashback to my FF XI days when I'd send a message to the linkshell chat and say "oh yeah. what color are they? take them off for me" and then follow it with "MT" all nonchalant
-
Did you get a sputum culture? You could be having opportunistic bacterial infections.
