Title: Where's our weekly news from Japaland?
Post by: Mr. Gundam on March 26, 2008, 01:38:07 AM
Like a heroin addict who hasn't got their fix, I'm currently experiencing massive withdrawals from the lack of Weekly Famitsu news. It's typically up by now. Did they crack down on internet leaks? I'm curious what the reviewers thought of Gundam 00 for the DS, and if there's any interesting news to report.

Wow, that's pretty anticlimatic so far. Oh well, I'm also curious to see if there's anything on Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball Portable 3 for the PSP, or maybe a new release date for Umihara Kawase.

I wonder if I should just give up on GAF and join the Jonnyram love train here. What are your thoughts? :-)

Edit:

Sigma Harmonics (DS)

- new Square Enix IP
- Adventure RPG
- You hold the DS sideways like a book
- The producer is Kitase, but the director and character designers are pretty lolz
- Director is Hiroki Chiba, the Event Director of FFVIII and the Scenario and Planning Director of DoC FFVII
- The character designer is Yusaku Nakaaki, the Sub-Character and Mechanics Designer of DoC FFVII
- lololol

and when you mean tri-Ace's latest - what game do you mean? Star Ocean?

HOLY SHIT, YOSHIKAWA MINE DOING SOUL CALIBUR CHARACTER DESIGN?!  (He's the guy that does Keroro Gunsou)  I take it there's some relation to Angol Moa from those comics?

Fuck George Lucas Shit, fuck Todd McFarlene shit, Namco should get more manga artists to design guest characters for their games.  Fits in better than Star Wars, anyway.

Well it looks like Namco is just doing what they did for Tekken 5 PS2. Except instead of having designers doing guest costumes for the characters, they'll actually getting them to do guest characters for the game. Last week was Izubuchi's design.

i don't mind these designs in some niche game or an rpg (I've seen worse from Kazuma Kaneko who sometimes try too hard with his demonic designs) but in Soul Calibur? smh.

Hamauzu is composing for a game I won't have to buy a PS3 for? And the characters aren't Nomura-clones? I'm in.

That's got the first fresh art style I've seen out of a Squenix game in some time.

Yoshizaki Mine has never really done anything other than that, so this is not surprising at all.

I'm fine with this direction. SC4 is bound to be a silly mess without an arcade port to iron out inevitable problems. And it's already got Star Wars characters, so they might as well run with the silliness.

this is my complaint to a t. what the fuck. that chick belongs in one of ttob's fetish mangas, not in soul calibur.

someone described the other guest-designed character, scheherezade, as "female link cosplay," which makes her almost as awful. there is no creativity left in animu :'(
