Title: Free audiobook of Blood Meridian (and many others) - today only on Audible
Post by: border on March 27, 2008, 07:34:27 PM

Blood Meridian is a $35 value, and unabridged.  Other titles available include Heart of Darkness and some Heinlein book.

Offer is only open to new customers, but I'm sure there's some way to weasel around that.

No.

i disagree

it was about 75 pages or so before i could finally read without a conscious effort on my part

of course i had just come off a golden age sci-fi bender so the clash in styles may have done it

Once you buy it, you can DL it any time.  In more formats than just itunes, too.  You can get it for WMP or Zune or yada yada.  You can also DL it as OFTEN as you want, I believe.

So I tried downloading Blood of Meridian (good choice?), but I'm not seeing anything so far... just this AudibleManager software that I received when trying to download the book. But this software - it isn't doing anything. Even when I restart the program, nothing happens.

If someone can tell me what the problem is, I'd appreciate it.

i ran into that problem too

i shut down my browser, the program, then started up the program and then my browser.  then i was able to click on myonline library in the upper right which opened a browser page.

from there i was able to download the program

I couldn't get into it, but it really wasn't because of the writing.

the constant violence was a bit of a turn off to me.  so when i couldn't get into it, i just stopped reading.

oh my choice was Have Spacesuit Will Travel.

i only listened to a bit of the recording but it was good stuff
