Japanese website Xbox-News.com has had a watchful eye on the Japanese Xbox.com pages, and it appears the Ikaruga page went up a little early, and with a release date!

I sold my GameCube copy a million years ago, but I'd be willing to rebuy it for $10 on XBLA. Especially if there's some HDing being done.

What a sloppy port, Namco.  Put some effort on a 9 year old game.  The upscaled character sprites have that nasty vaseline glaze.

I wish I was a PS3 fan so I could save money. It's so thoughtful that they don't have any new PSN releases for two weeks.

Euro PS3 owners save even more, we get one game every two months.

the demo isn't very good, won't really persuade new people to the series.

all i did was drill in a straight line and i "won" (demo ended) - i would imagine people being like "wtf? what a distinguished mentally-challenged game"

What's wrong with the online? uber lag?

You know how you have to code a game to deal with lag - and in some cases it means over-compensating, like in N+ where a mine will explode even though noone has touched it because it is guessing your online play buddy hit it, but he's still alive...

Well, Mr. Driller has an issue where blocks that you drill do not disappear... think about that for a second... a game where the sole purpose of the game is to drill through blocks, but you can't. The game is rendered unplayable.

Even playing with people in Japan this happens, so I don't know how little lag it needs to actually work. Even a seven year old could have coded better logic than this.

So does your character get stuck in a block, or does he just stand there doing nothing?

Uber lame either way.

I don't understand why MS can force Epic to charge for new maps to avoid devaluing other people's DLC, but it won't force this game to have acceptable netcode to avoid devaluing XBLA.

Even IGN gave it a 2.8

The game was announced like 3 weeks before it was released, this had to have been a rush job. The only good Namco XBLA game is PacMan CE anyway.

That IGN review is just an extreme score for the sake of it.
Single player is fine. If you like the series, you can't go wrong with this. It's back to basics, in most respects, but the items make it a more interesting game.

Online is totally broken, but I assume Namco will fix this.
What are these items that you speak of?

I really want it because I'm a Mr. Driller fiend, but I really wanted to play people online. If they fix it or even just announce that they'll fix it, I'd buy it. The blurriness doesn't bother me, it's still Mr. Driller.
