These films are progressively making more money, TVC. What in the hell.
Ugh Saw 3 sucked
How are they even going to continue itspoiler (click to show/hide)Jigsaw is dead, the one bitch who might follow in his footsteps? Also dead. The only thing that was a cliff hanger is the guy's daughter. They can't have a whole movie about that![close]
Just heard about this. They're are going to keep making these movies forever.
Your AMC complaints were distinguished mentally-challenged since they aired all the Halloween films (save for 6 and H20 - who cares).
And Saw is not equal to Halloween. God no!
Saw sucks and it has nothing to do with the fact that it's new.
Quit bitching, Phoenix Dark. You said Monsterfest sucked and all they do is show Halloween IV and V, which they did not.
Did you just fucking compare a mediocre slasher flick to Michael fucking Myers?
You're just a douche.
No, really. You're a douche.
Ranking the third installments...
Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors > Halloween III > Scream 3 > Friday the 13th Part 3-D > Hellraiser III > Leprechaun 3 > Children of the Corn 3 > The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause > Saw III
Also, Halloween II rocks - shut it, PD.
It's pretty obvious that most of you hold a bias to new horror films for whatever fuckwad reason.
Fact is, Saw used a formula and it worked. I'd have to say that in the past 3 decades, not many horror trilogies have been as good as Saw. Notice how I say not many, as in there have been better. Fuckwads.
Sorry, asshole, but I like new and old horror movies. The Saw movies are just tame serial killer fetishism. I blame Hannibal Lector for making righteous movie serial killers trendy.

I'm just tired of all these wannabe 70s exploitation films and remakes.
The best horror film of this decade, if you can even call it that, is easily Shaun of the Dead in my book.
Saw didn't trigger anything. The slasher genre was long dead before Saw. As for the end of so-called "tenny pop horror", what do you think Saw is? It caters towards a teenage and college age demographic. Almost all violent horror movies do. Why do you think they are always full of hot coeds?
Gory, torture films aren't really in. They don't make a lot of bank. The big thing is horror remakes, and that's what Hollywood is focusing in on now. It's really an evolution of adapting all the Asian horror films that began with The Ring.
So I guess I have to be drunk to tolerate HoOTC. :(
I suggest you read the Time article. It really counters everything you state
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1549299,00.html
After Saw's immense success, many studios started greenlighting similar movies. These are cheap movies that bring in millions; yeah, they make far more for studios than remakes do.

This is where Phoenix Dark shows he knows nothing... again. I hate these threads.
TIME is referring to the Splat Pack, which has absolutely nothing to do with Saw and for the most part, none of their films are related to Saw whatsoever. The only one of them that's like Saw is Eli Roth's Hostel, which was in production before Saw was released.
Zombie, Aja, Marshall and McLean make films they love from the 70s, not about lame torture crap.QuoteAfter Saw's immense success, many studios started greenlighting similar movies. These are cheap movies that bring in millions; yeah, they make far more for studios than remakes do.
Horror films in general are cheap movies. This has nothing to do with Saw. The highest grossing horror films have been remakes, not these non-existant Saw knockoffs you're talking about. There was never an explosion of cheap horror films being greenlit due to Saw, you're just seeing a new wave of directors hit the scene.
Saw is included in the Splat Pack, according to the article; care to read it now? Thanks for showing how much of a pretendous ass you are, again :lol
Hostel was in production before Saw? Are you sure? Saw came out in late 2004, while Hostel came out early this year. I know release date doesn't equal production time, but do you have a link or something?

I read the article, but apparently you did not. The Splat Pack refers to the new crop of directors (not films, moron) focusing on hyperviolent movies. As listed, the majority are making 70s exploitation movies, not torture films. Thanks for showing how much of an idiot you are, again :lolQuoteHostel was in production before Saw? Are you sure? Pre-production. Roth was talking about Hostel shortly after Cabin Fever hit the mainstream. He was supposed to make The Box first, but that fell apart.

:lol PD stays losing
It made you think and was pretty clever with the twists at the end...2 sucked I'll admit that, but my god I've seen some crap horror flicks and Halloween, while classic, is no masterpiece by any means
Shake when your in a glass house don't throw rocks and all that jazz...
Anyway the SAW movies were pretty good flicks IMO, I guess I'm the teen/college crowd they were appeasing too and it worked.

That's right, Phoenix Dark couldn't have said it better himself, because he'd make it sound EVEN MORE distinguished mentally-challenged.
