This is one of Square's best games and the existing fan translation projects seem to have stalled. I know we have some RS fans here (hi Drinky) but would anyone actually play the translated ROM?
-
Do you even know how to hack ROMs? Or translate?

I don't think these are necessary to starting a ROM translation.

What?

Well sure, you could download the ROM and maybe look at it for a few minutes. I guess that would count as starting.

I would definitely play it.

Yes.
addendum: I'm not the best of translators; I'm not great at rewriting the text to read naturally in English, especially while accounting for space limitations. The dialogue might end up a bit stilted, but it'll have to do. Maybe I can enlist an editor.

Examples of your work?

I started and aborted an RS1 project like seven or eight years ago. I didn't get all that far volume-wise, but I managed to dump the script and replace some text. I can program in assembly language and read Japanese, applying those skills to a ROM translation project really isn't a huge deal apart from the time commitment.

hell yes i'd play it

You translate it, and I'll play it.
-
OK. I dunno how much time I'm going to have to work on this, but I started on it.

Will definitely play it, I've heard that this game is the best in the SaGa series...
