not sure.  But I'm also not surprised people are buying HDD's instead of games for their PS3

does it matter if it's SATA/150? whatever the fuck that means.  i was reading that the PS3 maxes out at 250gb anyway, so i might as well get a jump on it considering my 20gb is getting filled with MANDATORY INSTALLS :heartbeat.

No. that does not matter. Just make sure it's not parallel ATA.  The 150 refers to the communication rate, 1.5 Gbps.

External HDD are supported up to 500 GB as well over USB.
