Title: BoxOffice: Borat Has Record Breaking Weekend
Post by: Cheebs on November 05, 2006, 11:33:55 AM
Friday numbers were $9 million, one of the biggest days for a limited release in history. Saturday was expected to be down since the type of film Borat is does best on Friday. It ROSE on Saturday to 10 million.

It looks to be around $26 million for its opening weekend breaking the record set by Fahrenheit 9/11 for biggest opening weekend in limited release.

Once this expands it should sail past 100 million.

Did Ali G Indahouse even get released in North American theaters? Either way, it blew chunks. BORAT is the real hotness. :pimp

So ripping off South Park's Jew jokes is far funnier when it's done by some jerk-off with a SAG membership?

They made fun of Jews first.  Was funny because they had a normal Jew defending himself.  Ali G and Borat are not funny.

So early South Park episodes marked the first time jews were ever made fun of in history?

Dumbass. ::)

Some people just dont like his comedy maybe thats why nintenho doesnt like it. I know at first i didnt like Ali G but i warmed up to it eventually.

Indahouse was a straight to DVD release in the states.

I'm not racist but damnit those are some funny fucking jokes

1. the actor behind borat is jewish
2. Borat has been around since the mid-90's and had the same jewish stuff. He started out on sketch comedy related work.

1. And so is one of the creators of South Park.  What the fuck kind of idiot would make fun of them without being part of them?
2. South Park is a lot more popular and came out a year before.  South Park really can't be compared to this teen-boy obsession shit.

Title: Re: BoxOffice: Borat Has Record Breaking Weekend

The Ali G movie was poorly made, had a crappy plot, and only served to make the character look like a (bigger) asshole. BORAT, on the other hand, is a well made film (Curb Your Enthusiasm, anyone?) that was non-stop funny and actually has a point.

I need to see The Departed; honestly, I thought it was going to be one of those Oscar movies that gets a lot of buzz but doesn't do great at the boxoffice, despite having a bunch of stars in it. It really looks good

I wonder what will have the higher fresh rating of these two at rottentomatoes when all is said and done. Borat is at 96% and Spider-Man 2 has a 93%  :o

If I was a betting man I'd pick Borat.  :-*
