i have no idea what most of these people are talking about

Don't try to act as if nothing sexual has happened between us.

No one here frowns on 360 piracy any more than they do on PSP piracy. The majority of PSP owners here don't pirate PSP games. The ones that do pirate PSP games would probably do the same with 360 games if it weren't so much more complicated.

I'd pirate 360/PS3 games if I were able to rip them to a HDD. :hyper

Do you have a magic memory stick?
-
Do you have a magic memory stick?
yeah. i have all the files on it and i put the pandora battery in while holding l and then nothing happens. the light is green on the side, but nothing ever loads up
i even press x and nothing happens. if i pop my old battery back in and it boots up fine, so i know it's not bricked

Hell no. You better start downloading some PSP games by the end of the night or else you and I are going to have a chat.
-
You have to at least pirate Brooktown High. The characters in it have the proportions of sexy babies.
-
ARGH! I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M DOING WRONG!
for reference, these are the guides i'm using...

I have a datel battery. I downloaded the firmwares, used Grader to put DC on my memory stick. Then I take out the regular battery, hold down L and then pop in the pandora battery. apparently a menu is supposed to come up but nothing happens. The light is just green on the side and fucking sits there. I've waited like 5 minutes
-
WORKING
-
PSP Grader does NOT work with Datel batteries despite what those people say. You have to go the long route
-
Sounds like the exact same problem I had yesterday when I was hacking my PSP. After hitting square a couple of time on the blank screen I finally got it working but there was still issues. It turns out the Datel battery I had was a 1200 and not 1800 which is what's compatable.
The CFW came out a bit buggy so instead I went out and bought a Sony 2200 battery and just redo the whole thing. I also followed a different set of instructions from a link Demi posted a while back:
http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=3780
After following these step by step everything came out perfectly. I can now run emus, iso's and with the help of the Time Machine I can boot up in 1.50. The only thing I still haven't figured out yet is the PSX games.
-
psx games are piss easy.

download either one to convert from iso to eboot.
you can also do other shit like compress, join, customize...etc...if you want a simple converter, grab this:
http://pspupdates.qj.net/Yet-Another-GUI-for-Popstation-v1-0/pg/49/aid/77618
also: http://www.imgburn.com/ for making iso.
edit: added another program.

check the recovery menu (boot while holding R) there is an option there for updating via darkalex firmware/whatever.
it should be on by default, after that go and update normally.
-
Just download the files straight from Dark Alex's site.
http://www.dark-alex.org/
Though if you are having the same problems as I did you probably won't be able to upgrade.

what did it tell you when you tried?
-
strange, it should be there if you are under 3.8 iirc...
-

I don't remember the exact error message I got but I tried even doing the gradual update from 3.71 to 3.80 and it still wouldn't work. After screwing around with it long enough I just caved in and got a compatable battery and followed the instructions I posted above. Those directions got me a 3.80 M33 CFW and I was able to install the other updates after that.

yeah, apparently the instructions are talking about 3.8 but the files he links to are 3.71

How far did you get? Because I downloaded the 3.9 files and it's downloading the entire update right now and installing.

Never got past the 3.71.
By the way McDragon, I tried out the files you suggested and now I have Alundra working on my PSP flawlessly. Thanks!
-
McDragon, which one of those do I download to be able to compress/merge different cd's.
In short, I want FF 8 on my memory stick as small as possible and if I could, in one file.

What firmware do you have your game folder homebrew run under?
-
Go to the recovery menu. The should be an option in the first submenu about what kernel your game directory/folder is run under. Check that and report back.
