Title: Help me pick out a cheap laptop (used, probably)
Post by: Eel O'Brian on April 05, 2008, 07:32:39 PM
I need something around the $400 range, doesn't have to be new, or the most current model of any brand

It'll be used primarily for on-the-go writing, but I'd like to be able to:

run photoshop (or a similar program) reasonably well on some light-duty layout-type stuff

rip DVDs in the background while I use my desktop for other things

run some games, older rts stuff, the upcoming battlefield heroes - along those lines

run audacity okay so I can do some voice recording

it won't be used that often, i just need a cheap all-purpose-jack-of-all-trades-but-master-of-none type laptop

I am not savvy on mobile tech

It's new and only $450. You'd probably want to add a gig of ram.

I'm buying a laptop soon. I'm not going to spend much, but it is going to have to have at least a T5450 and 2 GB of ram, and be less bulky than the one I linked to.

that looks decent from what little i understand about laptops, too bad that's the on-sale price

it's gonna be a month or so before i get the money together, i'm just fishing for info now

this is sort of an extraneous expense for me (i don't need it for business, just personal bullshittery), so i'm selling some old stuff on ebay to justify/balance out the cost - if i had to spend realbucks, i probably wouldn't get a laptop

maybe it'll go on sale again soon
