So, I'm on warfarin to thin my blood to eliminate the clot caused by my recent pulmonary embolism.
My goal is an INR (international normalized ratio) between 2.0 and 3.0. That's how many times thinner than normal my blood is, i.e. default blood INR is 1.0.
I've been taking 12.5 mg a day, and at my blood test last Thursday morning I was all the way up to 3.3. My pharmacist decided to keep me at 12.5 daily, but drop me to 10.0 on Thursday and Saturday.
Now, I am neither a pharmacuticist or a mathologist, but Warfarin has a 5-day decay time before it gets out of your system. And even I could tell that a 20% reduction in dose 40% of the time--or an overall 8% reduction--was not going to stem the tide of my skyrocketing INR.
Anyways, I got the results back from yesterday, and wow! I'm at 4.5! This basically means that if I eat spicy foods my intentines will leak out all over my spleen. They are freaking the fuck out and all I can do is go, I TOLD YOU ON THURSDAY YOU GOT MY DOSE WRONG.
If I die, please make sure my tombstone reads "Killed by Poor Math Standards."
Internally bleedingly yours,
S.P.

can you share your WoW log in info for the good of the guild?

Wow, that sucks. What a dumbass, why didn't he listen to you?

Tell me your employer's secrets before you die too, please

Really sorry to hear about your condition, Patel. It could be that you're getting rid of the drug at a different rate than your doctor expected. If you have a concern about dosage, you should talk to the doctor not the pharmacist. I'm sending you some info that would hopefully be useful.

Don't you mean "was not"?
I hope you get better, and possibly bitchslap the doctor

Wow. Please don't handle any knives or sharp objects. Don't eat chips or anything, either, because they can cut your mouth. Really, you can't be too careful. Please be safe!

You got any good BoE gear on WoW?
-
Wow, guess pharmacists don't fucking know basic math.

This is why I don't got to doctors or anything, they'll just tell me that I'm going to die or something, and that I need to quit eating shitty food and drinking excessively. Guess what? I like shitty food and drinking excessively, living I'm not so sure about.
-
Are you actually in any danger? :(
-
Um. I'm probably not in danger of dying. But if I were to injure or cut myself right now it would be a bad, bad scene.

If you cut yourself and the worst happened, maybe blood splatter analysist Dexter Morgan would get called to the scene, figure out what happened, and murder your doctor for you.

Should I get a Comic Sans MedAlert bracelet?

So I wonder how every day haemophiliacs deal with the problem of blood not clotting? I know a haemophiliac but I've never asked.

I've been analysing blood splatters in Condemned 2 with quite a high degree of accuracy. Call me.

I hear they’re high in estrogen content, so that makes sense.

My grandpa has had problems with taking to much warfarin before. It's scary shit.
