I picked this up for PS2 today (decided its a better choice than the Wii pick).
Its great and amazing....
You know the routine - you make runs thru the dungeon grinding, killin, and gettin drops.
An event worthy of me making a thread here to share the love of a new roguelike....

I have not had this much fun since Nightmare of Druaga - most modern roguelikes have been released on handhelds lately...nice to get it back on the bigscreen...

Welcome back, Abrader. We really miss your game recommendations.

You should have got Mana Khemia, Prole has been having a blast with that

The Wii version is slightly preferable IMO. The Classic controller is as good as the PS2 pad for this, and the PS2 version doesn't have the Wii's 480p or widescreen.

Sounds like Abrader made the right choice. When buying multiplatform games, he almost always prefers the inferior version.

You mean "almost widescreen but we hope you dont mind black bars on the side of your screen" right? No Wii game is widescreen aside from maybe 5.

Maybe it's a scaling problem? WII widescreen looks wrong on my 24" monitor but looks fine on my Sony LCD TV.

That wouldnt make much sense if the Wii menu is WS, but the games are not - but games like Zelda, Galaxy, Eternal Ocean are
I am also not the only one with this issue
-
Actually demi are any wii games in true widescreen? Dark10x was making a post on gaf about how the wii doesn't have any true widescreen games and they are all stretched....maybe some have better results?
-
I dunno what would be true widescreen, but Zelda, Galaxy, and Eternal Ocean cover my entire TV, while every other game has black bars

You can play the PS2 version upscaled to 1080p on a PS3 and stretch the screen if you want to-- and I'm sure Abrader is doing at least the former.

Those black bars really shit me off. If a budget game like Endless Ocean can do it, why can't everyone else?
From my games it seems only games that Nintendo is involved in (either developing or publishing) lack the black bars. Although Metroid Prime 3 has frickin' black bars... :maf

Another awesome Rogue-like. If it ain't baroque, don't fix it.
