Title: Amazon.com owns!
Post by: Beezy on April 11, 2008, 12:38:53 AM
I just saw this in my inbox:

Quote
Dear Amazon.com Customer,
As someone who purchased an HD DVD player from us before February 23, 2008,* you might like to hear about a special offer available from Amazon.com.

New technologies don't always work out as planned. We at Amazon.com value our customer relationships more than anything and would like to support customers who purchased these players by offering a credit good for $50 off any products sold by Amazon.com.** Just use promotional code xxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxx when checking out. The code is valid through April 9, 2009, so you have plenty of time to use your credit. Purchases from third-party merchants on our site are not eligible.

In addition, we'd like to share some of our top offers on Blu-ray discs, HDTVs, and other high-def technology and remind you that the Amazon.com Marketplace is available to sell items you might not want anymore as you upgrade to new ones. Also be sure to check out our monthly Amazon.com Early Adopters Delivers e-mail to find out about the latest technology.

it's kinda funny that HD-DVD is such a clusterfuck that retailers are bending over backwards to give people refunds

I wonder if they'll give out Blu-Ray rebates when HD gets owned by SD. People are still hooking their crap up with composite cables as it is because companies like Sony can't even be arsed to make sure people have the right cables, or let them know that they need cables.

The war was over as soon as Blu-ray was revealed as the PlayStation 3's primary media format.

Does this include the people who bought the 360 add-on for $50? :o

I guess if you bought it before February 23rd, yeah. You should get an e-mail. I bought The Office seasons 1-3, Shaun of the Dead HD-DVD, and Dawn of the Dead HD-DVD with my $50. I put $30 with it, but eh. Free money rocks.

The Hori stick is only $40 at Gamestop. It's $60 at amazon.

Yeah, so I got Planet Earth: The Complete BBC Series HD-DVD, Lucky Number Slevin HD-DVD, Aeon Flux HD-DVD, HDscape Sampler and a 2GB Kingston microSD for a total of $31.33. Free money rocks indeed.

I got mine for $200 with 12 free HD-DVDs, but I didn't bother getting the 5 from that mail in form do it's actually 7 free. I also didn't have a DVD player before this, so I don't feel like I lost anything.

You get a movie Beezy, I'll bring the popcorn.  It'll be ok, once you chill with a white man your life will never be the same.
