I went and saw Crystal Castles at a local bar.
Joe and I arrived at 900 PM.
They came on at 1230 AM.
They played a 3 song, 12 minute set.
THE END
wtf, total fail, I can't even enjoy the album anymore
-
Can't be worse than the time I saw Broken Social Scene. They played for like an hour and a half even though they only have like 3 songs.

:rofl :rofl
Can't be worse than the time I saw My Chemical Romance. I've got not pun.
-
sounds like a Death Set concert
they pride themselves on 15 minute sets
but then they're playing something like 12 songs or so.

You had to wait for 15 1/2 hours! :o

Whoops.
Death Cab played for like two hours whenever I saw them. The only song they didn't play that I wanted them to was What Sarah Said.
They even played 405. I fucking love 405.

Are you kidding? The three times I've seen them they played expansive sets for like close to 2 hours. They've got 2 full albums, the b-side record and like 487874879474 songs that have never been comitted to tape.

This was before their second album. I thought they were rather boring live. And I liked their first album.

whoops!
Did Timbaland buy the right from them or what? Or is this like when people linked Daft Punk vids, in response to that Kanye vid , not knowing that Daft Punk themselves were already sampling the shit out of everything around them?
First time I hear of Crystal Castles, me like!
Nope it's different from the Kanye situation; Kanye worked with Daft Punk on his stuff, whereas Timbaland stole the Crystal Castles without giving credit. He'd done it before
if you're going to sample, give credit where it's due
-
I haven't heard anything about them suing, although I'd imagine Timbaland has very good lawyers for that stuff. This isn't the first time he's taken original work from someone and credited it to himself; usually he targets obscure foreign musicians

They pretty much always play 405, though.
But, Photobooth is my favorite song, and they always play that, too.

That concert was epic fail. I spent all day today calling people I know and telling them about it. Everyone asked the same question: 'did the venue do anything about it?'. Yes, actually they did. They got the house DJ to the stage immediately to avoid a riot.

I think I've got everyone beat. I went to Phish's final concert. 2 days of complete shit. Even if you are a completely ignorant Phish fan, this was like the worst they've ever played. :lol
it was a learning experience though-- I had to get off the drugs and stop listening to shitty music. things have been pretty good ever since.

timbaland is stupid. someone as big as him should get sample clearance for every track. it's not like he CAN'T afford it. ::)
-
I never saw a band pull shit like that. Wow.
-
seen too many bands who pull this shit, usually wanky bands in London/Camden.
Elastica spring to mind
I would have loved to see Elastica, but now that you've said that, I guess I'm glad I didn't. :-\
-
I've seen plenty of bands quit (sometimes give up) after just a few minutes, but I've certainly never paid for it. The worst concert I've ever paid to see was probably this year's horrible DC101 Chili Cookoff.
-
NME is great advertising but good for little else, i think
though they did turn me onto a lot of bands i'd have otherwise not known about
like the long blondes years ago.

I saw Jane's Addiction on their supposed "last tour" and they played for about 25 minutes and then got all pissy and left. We sat through 2 other bullshit acts and had to wait an hour after the last one before Jane's Addiction even took the stage. They spent more time setting up the rugs and candles than they did playing. Just fucking lame all around.
Conversely, the best concert I've ever been to was when I saw Pink Floyd at Arrowhead Stadium during their Division Bell tour back in the summer of '94. I'm not a Pink Floyd fan at all but a bunch of my friends were all hyped up about it so I kind of went with the flow. That was the most amazing lightshow I've ever seen - so much so that I bought the Pulse DVD so I can relive it. Brilliant stuff.
