I mean as a mainstream actor.
I still loved him in 25th Hour, The Illusionist, The Painted Veil, but it seems like this was the beginning of the end of his mainstream appeal.
What made him fall off anyways? He's a pretty good actor
quick edit: nevermind, the italian job was still pretty huge after this. but still, what the hell happened to him? he was like the next jesus for a while

Wow, I forgot he was even in the Italian Job.

then i was right with my original assumpting
fuck. this movie is terrible.

red dragon is better than hannibal, at least
the only reason to watch hannibal is gary oldman
they still pussied out on the ending to red dragon, though

Everything after American History X has been a downfall, in my eyes. He was looking like the next De Niro after Primal Fear and AHX, then he just sort of fell off and took non-challenging roles and started phoning it in after that. There have been a few exceptions where he has shown flashes of brilliance, but by and large he looks like hes there to collect a paycheck in most movies now.

Exactly what I said. He hasnt matched or exceeded his work in that film, which is now a decade old.

I'd have to agree. He was in Fight Club and American History X in the same year and excelled in both, and he really hasn't matched his performances in either of those films. It's been almost ten years. I'd say Norton is done.

Don't forget Death To Smoochy

Hulk looks absolutely horrible btw, like a straight to DVD movie

Don't forget Death To Smoochy
which was effin incredible.

Yeah, what the hell was that about? It's like one minute he's lying on the floor in his house with 4 bullet holes in his chest, then they cut to him alive and happy with his family. The fuck?

in the novel, Will Graham's face is mutilated by Dolarhyde
he is facefucked forever, and reads that letter from Lecter on his hospital bed
much colder ending, guess they figured audiences wouldn't be satisfied

norton was pretty fucking awesome in 25th hour
also, iirc, he didn't even want to be in the italian job, but he was forced due to a 3 movie deal he had with the studio. i thought it was a fun movie, though.

My issue with it is how is he even still alive? Taking a handful of bullets to the lung isn't something you just bounce back from. It defies all logic, just for a cheesy ending.

Not to mention like the 4 times he got shot in the beginning of the movie

Solo :bow
I love how you mentioned Primal Fear too. Almost no one ever brings it up. His first role, and he fucking rocked it. I've never seen 25th Hour, even though I've wanted to watch it for a while.
And yeah, Death to Smoochy is great.
