When I play it in Windows Media Player, it makes this high-pitched squeaking sound for a two seconds, then crashes WMP. I thought the file was corrupt at first, so I re-downloaded it, and got the same result. However, I tried playing it on my DVD software (Nero ShowTime) and it ran just fine. So I went ahead and tried to convert it into a a DVD file using Nero Vision, but about 1 minute into the coversion, it just stops. I tried a different AVI-to-DVD program, but it also failed to work. I tried downloading/redownloading several codecs, nothing.
So what's the deal here, why would it run in one program and not the other? How can I get this stupid thing to convert into a VOB?

It's an AVI, and according to GSpot, the codec is MP42.
I'd post it online, but it's over 700MB. It's an episode of MST3K, Hercules and the Captive Women :-* I'm trying to convert all my downloaded episodes into DVDs, and they all worked except for this stupid one. I downloaded several different MP42 decoders, fixes, etc, but it still doesn't work.

if they all worked then this is probably corrupted or something.

I'm messing with it in VirtualDub now. VD can open it and play it, so I'm hoping that if I reprocess it, I can get something I can work with.

Okay, that worked. Thanks to VDub and demi's sexiness, the file was fixed. :elephant
