Title: Pinball HOF Williams Collection. PIN-BOT CIRCUITS ACTIVATED
Post by: Sho Nuff on April 15, 2008, 06:44:43 AM
Holy freaking crap, how did I miss this game? It's cheap and has 10 tables guaranteed to kick your ass. It's done by the same guys who did the Gottlieb collection which was OK, but this is way better and has less of the kinda crappy historical tables that aren't that much fun.

Best tables IMHO are Taxi, Space Shuttle, and Pin-Bot (which is still super complex and awesome). I dunno if it's the crack or the nostalgia talking but I am loving the shit out of this collection.

+60fps
+Plays good, Wii ver seems to be the one to get, amazingly enough, cuz of the accelerometer/nudging
+Incredibly detailed tutorials that tell you how all the shit works
+Pretty bitchin graphics, wish they were on an HD system though :(
+Sound seems pretty accurate
+TATE mode on PSP!!! Nar nar nar
+Good camera modes

-The LED stuff doesn't appear as animated textures on the backboard
-Unlocking stuff is lame, but they added an achievement system that earns you credits
-I encountered 2 physics bugs where the ball would "float" through the left flipper in +10 hours of play.
-Jive Time is super shitty, screw your 70s hippie-themed tables
-No Cyclone? Come on now.

Here are some shitty screenshots from IGN. The game looks way the hell better than these grabs.

ME GORGAR! ME GOT YOU! Summon the demon, kick his ass, and get the hot girl!

BLACK KNIGHT! WILL! WIN! I don't like this one as much because there's not as many targets. Second playfield is cool though.

Funhouse. Has the creepy disembodied head talking shit the whole way through. Still can't figure out what you're supposed to do.

TAXI!!! Probably my favorite table of all time. Pick up Gorbachev and take him for a joyride. PIN-BOT STRANDED! Boner!

Tate mode on PSP makes it seem best.

I did read "Taxi, Space..." as Space Taxi and thought they'd made a HEY TAXI table :(

I actually like Jive Time. It's nowhere near as good as PinBot, Taxi, or Whirlwind though.
I think the thing I like about Jive Time is the sound effects.

BUMP FOR ALL OF MY DREAMS MADE TRUE

HD + ACHIEVEMENTS FTW

Oh god PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add more tables. I know there's no chance for the licensed stuff (Addams Family, Twilight zone) but there are still a shitton of awesome Williams tables that need conversion (Cyclone!!!)

Excellent. I've been wondering why these hadn't come out on the 360.

Really would like to see Twilight Zone, Addams Family, and the Comet/Cyclone set.

Then all I'd need vpinmame for would be Doctor Who:

This is so awesome,.  I have the PS and PS2 versions.  I play the PSP version to and from work.  Spent months trying to clear the last wizard goal (get to the sun) on Pinbot.

It's by far my most played PSP game. Immaculate physics

Did you know that the company that made it is also responsible for Action 52 on the Genesis?

Got this game from Gamefly over the weekend and oh shit, it's awesome! Now I'm just wondering if I should go ahead and buy the Wii version with its awesome controls (nudging the table by shaking the nunchuck / wiimote) or the soon-come 360 version which will have leaderboards. Pinball is all about the high scores!
