-
Nay, sorry to hear that. :(
-
That's the free Checkers application.
-
my wife has that laptop; well, she has the 14.1" version
no issues with it so far
did you order it online or in store? was the box beat up?
-
That's funny. Well not really. But I bought a PSP from CC on Tuesday and it was dead on arrival. I just returned it. They gave me no problems.
-
Got it in-store
just returned it, i only live about 4 blocks away
firedog dude said it was probably jacked at the factory
fingers crossed on the new one, it was the last one they had
-
i've had nothing but great experiences with the three hp laptops i've owned, so i'm honestly kinda surprised -- the build quality on them has been great for me so far.
-
well, i have the luck of job in every other area of my life, so why should this be any different
-
seems okay so far
vista is fuck slow
might need your assistance removing crapware and tweaking for performance, prof
-
You should have asked if they have the special where you can downgrade to XP
-
this is what i hear
-
it's preparing my desktop
like it knows the kind of porn it will be subjected to and is bracing for it
goddamn, hp is like the king of bloatware
-
yeah, hp pre-installed shit is BAD. in fact, i believe there's a specific tool to strip all pre-installed hp ad-ware. me, i just do a format/reinstall immediately. that said, i'm glad to give you pointers.

i am busting my laptop hymen with this post
-
so far this laptop is better than my desktop :-\
-
jesus hopped up christ it takes forever to make recovery discs
an hour, and i'm still on disc one...of three
a solid hour
just send me some actual recovery discs, you cheap hp fucks
-
Ya why don't they actually send you recovery disks anymore? It can't be a price issue.
-
also, fuck norton
always be suspicious of any program which requires you to go to their website and download a tool to remove it
and hp digital imaging monitor is a big fat resource hog, but i have to use it or my printer/scanner won't work correctly

Norton sucks major donkey dick. Takes up a lot of system resources from like the 18 billion .exe's it has running. Go with AVG Free. :-*

I have just about that same model with a few alterations. I <3 it. Only problem I've encountered so far is compatibility with Vista.
-
Yeah, now that I'm in the process of stripping it of all the excess crapware and have turned off a lot of the unneccesary Vista effects (really, who gives a shit about shuffling around 3D animated windows), this is turning out to be a pretty sweet laptop
i really dig the credit card remote that came with it - you can even use it for limited web browsing, and it fits right in the expansion card slot when you're not using it
i checked that system requirements site, and i can even play stuff like company of heroes on it (low settings, of course) - my vista graphics ranking was 2.5 when i first turned it on, but i have bumped it to 2.8 following some performance improvement suggestions i found on the net - my goal is 3.0
like i said, other than the graphics card, this is actually nicer than my desktop
it'll probably be my main computer from now on, with my desktop serving as a HTPC and streaming device
i feel much better about my decision now (i always tear my hair out over big purchases)
next up, accessories:
notebook mouse (maybe bluetooth, since this pc has it built in)
carrying case
maybe a small usb-powered hard drive for music/videos/pictures (i don't like cramming the main HDD of a computer with that stuff)
for $629 after rebates, i don't think you can get a better off-the-shelf notebook
-
same thing happened to jarosh with his first hp notebook. they replaced it free of charge and the new one works fine, however
