:piss MS build quality :piss2
-
I'm not buying a 360 until I'm convinced the shitty hardware isn't going to fuck out on me
ie whenever RE5 comes out
-
send it.
-
Do you have extra units from work that you can borrow?
-
i'm on my third
if they intended to make it disposable you'd think it would be cheaper
-
Which model, Cohen?

I can play on a retail unit at work, which is good since I'm always here.
I'm not sure which model. Whatever garbage they sent me in september.
They're still working you like a slave? I thought the 80 hrs work week were over a few weeks ago.
-
I didn't get the extended warranty when I got my Falcon because I had more faith in the MS build process
-_-
-
You guys are aware that Microsoft technically did not design and build the 360. It was outsourced to three companies--Flextronics, Celestrica, and Wistron. Maybe they'll choose their partners with greater care next time around.
-
And this is why when a co-worker of mine asked me what system she should buy for her son I suggested a PS3. I can't in good faith recommend a 360 to anyone because of the shitty build quality.
Love the games though.

If mine breaks I'll just wait until MS get their hardware issues resolved.
-
Going strong for a year now :rock
I always keep it directly on top of a desk/table/entertainment center, never within one.
-
Does anyone know if the HDMI units are working better than the older models?
I got a 360 w/HDMI around Halo 3's release and it's been working well since then. I sold to a friend my previous 360, which I've had for 6 months.
Luckily, he's had no problems with his 360. I'd feel really bad if that 360 had crapped out on him after I had upgraded to a different model.
-
yes since hdmi units are mostly late zephyr/falcons.
3rrod might be gone but who knows, you might run into a bad hana chip/bad drive.

Xbox 720?
-
my current falcon is quiet, cool, and rock-solid
-
My March '06 unit is still going strong...but i have so little faith in it i've been using it only for exclusives for a year now.
-
my second hand 360 has been going strong in light use without an issue since i got it. Now only if I just had a reason to play it :( . Too adjusted and used to playing on my PC.

:wtf I thought Falcon's were supposed to be pretty much RROD proof...

3rrod? yeah but it is still possible, nothing is certain.
other failures? yes but they are rare as of now.

Are all 360s w/HDMI falcons? I know that mine has suspect build quality.
I made a thread here about how a screw came loose right after I took it out of the box. I can still hear it rattle whenver I move my 360 around.
-
hdmi 360s are zephyr and falcons.
both come with the 2nd heatsink/heatpipe except for the launch elites (around march~april i think)
falcons should be everywhere by now...oh wait, no one is buying 360 anymore.

And yet it outsold PS3 last month. :lol
-
Ikaruga is the only reason I still play the 360 anymore, probably will remain that way until Ninja Gaiden 2 and Operation Darkness come out
-
My HDMI model has been a trusty workhorse so far. (only 9 months or so)
-
My original Japanese launch unit just refuses to die! DVD drive sounds like a jet engine though.
-
My Nov 06 360 works fine, except when playing disk 4 of Lost Odyssey... I had about 15 DRE's while playing it. It's weird, I'll play for 20 min or so, get a DRE, wipe down the disk, start the game up again, and play for 5 hours without a problem. Luckily I'm almost done with that game.
-
Sounds like the Wii is the only next-gen system capable of handling Ikaruga. Wii :bow2
-
my zephyr died and sounded like a vaccuum so they're not rrod proof.
i got another one a few weeks ago. let's see how that one goes
