Title: How does LOTR (book) fare with the critics?

Yes, I have read them and know they have sold millions, but that doesn´t mean a book is going to be loved by critics. I guess I should have asked the question at a Tolkien forum, but I am very lazy to make a new account now. I think there a lot of people here that could answer my question since this is a Critics forum...or something like that.
