I mean these guys had amazing careers starting out. Now DeNiro takes roles like an anal retentive grandpa in Meet the Fockers and Al Pacino roles are just a joke. Jack Nicholson, a contemporary to both, has largely resisted this and still takes much more challenging and interesting roles. What are your thoughts?

:lol
No offense, Kosma. I'm not talking about their body of work, only their recent roles within the last 5 years or so.

Once upon a time they were the best, the godfathers of the movie industry. Things always heated up in their movies, it was no walk in the park. Nowadays we cant even get two bits of good films from these fellas. They used to be untouchable. It didn't have to be this way.

I can understand DeNiro wanting to do comedy but Pacino's roles make no sense to me. Apparently his new movie (88 Minutes) is absolutely horrible, and both will be in a sucky movie with 50 Cent sigh.
Seems like they aren't being challenged, perhaps because they don't respect the directors they work with. Clearly they have a sense of entitlement. If DeNiro were to do another film with Scorsese I bet he'd give a great performance, in part because he'd feel challenged

We also have to accept the fact that they are getting, well , old. And new actors rise up.
I guess that's why I mentioned Jack Nicholson. He still takes pretty challenging roles. I'm in no way trolling them. I guess they just want to relax in their golden years.

WHOO HA!
Who wants to hear about how Heat should of ended?
De Niro blows Pacino away, then meets Amy Brennaman at the airport, bangs her in the shitter, then tears up her ticket as he gets on the plane by himself. No fucking attachments.

NO
Pacino shoots De Niro but gets shot as well; Pacino lives, but is so weakened that he's unable to do anything but hold De Niro's hand - like the original ending. De Niro staggers out of the field, steals a car, and tries to get back to his girl. But the wound is fatal and his driving becomes quite erratic. The camera stays on De Niro's face for awhile, and once the car stops the camera pans out to reveal De Niro has driven all the way to the waterline on a beach. He dies staring out at the water on the beach
