Title: Anybody a Gamerscore Whore?
Post by: Grecco on April 23, 2008, 07:44:42 PM
Anybody love them some achievments? Play crappy games for scores?

Anyways i was playing Meet the Robinsons yesterday and noticed Demi has the top score of all time in the Security minigame. I bow to you sir.

Is there interest in making an Evilbore Mygamercard.net leaderboard to compare your epeen?

Haha, I am still #1?

It is well known that I love my achievements. Achievements are amazing, and breathe life into gaming once more.

I have been weening myself off the easy wussy games, if you look on my recent played list, you will see. I think the last easy game I played was LOST, but I love my LOST. I haven't even done Avatar. I figure, maybe they will do another Old Spice Challenge, and I can pull out my trump cards.

I did think achievements were a total waste of time, but I've come around.  I really enjoy them when they're well thought out.  I also like ones that you get just for doing the game as I like to have a record of playing the game.

I don't get a thrill out of the gamerscore itself.  Which is probably a good thing as I would spend too much time doing things I don't enjoy.

I've only got 1,000 in DiRT because I love the game, and I'll probably get 1,000 in Assassin's Creed for the same reason.  Got some flags to find.

achievements made a lot of games better for me, like dead rising.

Used to be when I had a 360.

achievements made a lot of games better for me, like dead rising.

I think one of the best examples when Achievements work.

In some other games they suck balls though. Viva Pinata for one.

i'm no achievement whore, but fuck Guitar Hero 3 and Final Fantasy 11's achievements, lol.

Achievements are great when they aren't time/# of kills/multiplayer based.

Bully's annoyed me at first because most of them are just "complete action X times", but you're doing things you do in the game anyway.

I cared more about 'em when I first got my 360 but then the thrill just kind of trailed off after the first 6 months or so but depending on the game I still like achievements.  I was just playing through Viking and I liked collecting them - it's like a seperate meta-game.

I try unlocking as many achievements as I can on the games I buy, I have all 1000 in Halo3 and COD4 for example, but I never rent shitty games just for the score.  Some game achievements aren't really worth what it takes to get them though, the Orange Box comes to mind.

Some achievements are worth getting just for bragging. Like if I somehow get Gold Medal on Portal, everyone will BE MAD cause I am awesome
