Rather than making a thread every time Alias makes me go "wtf?", I thought I'd condense my Alias-watching into a single thread.
Current topic: Season 4 premiere.
Assessment: Laaaame. WTF is the deal with Alias and shitty, lame resets? Damn do the producers ever love that reset button. Worse than the two-year jump for season 3.

WTF your complaining about an episode where JG is in a nighty and white panties AND a hot schoolgirls outfit!

Cheap boners are what teh internets are for. That's not enough for my TV shows.

the resets never really bothered me; in fact, i think i liked the change-ups better than the original state of affairs

This is what turned me off of the show. It seems like season 1 was pretty good with the ratings, and after that, they kept rebooting the show trying to recapture the magic. I think I am more prepared for that this time, as I prepare to rewatch.

I know the term "believability" probably shouldn't be used when referring to a show about a 15th century uber psychic who could make people live to be 600 years old, but I'll be damned if I didn't think that putting Sloan in charge of a CIA black ops operation after all he had done insulted me as a viewer.

i liked it! i don't really watch shows for believability in any capacity; in fact, i like the whole fannish "what would sloane do as a 'good guy'" angle.
actually, i just wanted MOAR SLOANE PLZ

And on that latter point, I agree. Maybe I shouldn't be too harsh, because Sloane rawks, and maybe the dumb premise can be forgiven if it results in Sloane awesomeness.
I'm only 2 episodes into S4 anyway. I shall continue to give it a shot.

alias has always been pretty schizo when it comes to its premises. for every awesome counterspy scenario put forth, there's been an equivalent evil francie or rambaldi red herring. maybe it's because i watched all five seasons back to back, or because i'm really forgiving of most high-concept tv series not called heroes, but i found the bipolar swings from serious spywork to silly whedon-ism strangely charming. *shrug* i won't defend it as good writing, but i had fun once i LET GO AND LET SLOANE.

New series (well last year) about a rogue operative for the FBI (or something like that). They out him and put out a Burn Notice (basically to kill him). Its cool cause he has to take on different jobs for money while still progressing the story with why theres a Burn Notice out for him. Its got a cool lead duder, hot woman spies that help and Bruce Campbell.

Update:
I am now at the episode where Anna returns. Thoughts:
Fuck yeah! Zoe---I mean, Anna's back! Too long since she's been on the show. Same with Stark. The show is better with it's recurring baddies. Villain-of-the-week episodes are lame as hell.
Aaaand, now Irina's dead? Not that I believe that for a second, but that's lame. First of all, the documents Sydney read at the end of S2 were supposed to be about her being a "pawn", not about authorization for her daddy to kill her mommy. That doesn't make a lick of sense.
Plus, her mother being killed offhand, offscreen is totally lame and useless. Again, not that I believe she's dead.
The episode with the Russian "suburban America" training base was awesome though. "Democracy sale" :lol

END OF SEASON 4.
Aaaaand to absolutely no one's surprise, Irina Derevko's not really dead! This is my surprised face. ::)
That said, the season ended strong. The last two episodes were great. And Sloane REALLY kicked ass. Such an awesome character. Even though I'm sure he'll turn evil again before the series concludes, I think his struggle to redeem himself in season 4 is one of the strong points of the series.
HOWEVER, another stupid fucking cliffhanger. "well, for starters, my name's not really Michael Vaughan" *CAR CRASH*.
Fucking lame.
