It's basically the opposite of Mars Volta stuff - overproduced and very precise. It's like they aren't even playing instruments, instead pushing buttons or something. That's not a mark of criticism in terms of quality, because this album does have some great stuff on it. What initially struck me is how poppy it sounds though. Songs like Apocalypse Please feature the same dark melodies heard on OoS but there seems to be more repetitive riff strums and emo-ish singing. I almost feel dirty for liking Time Is Running Out. Falling Away With You sounds like someone took a shit on Blackbird, and Butterflies/Hurricanes is good I guess but very cheesy. Sounds like an Obama song
There are some rockers here though like Stockholm Syndrome, Hsyteria, and The Small Print which is fuck awesome. :bow
On first listen I say OoS is better, but I'll have to listen more

I don't know if I should hate you for that post or not. I'm so torn.

No, a T-shirt actually, with cargo pants.

That's my main problem with Absolution too. It sounds way too overproduced. Muse almost doesn't sound like a complete band on it. That's why I loved Black Holes so much; I felt like it was a return to form (less time editing in a studio, more time playing).

OoS is better!
best songs on OoS>best songs on Absolution

From an album perspective:
Black Holes > OoS > Showbiz > Absolution
Based on individual songs, this list is practically reversed.
