Snake, if you won't be a prisoner of RSX fate, then go
fulfill your destiny,
in 665P.

i thought the beta was only 665p?
i've still got mine preordered... but i'm considering cancelling and re-pre-ordering at fry's just to take part in the broke ass beta. :lol
-
:bow MGS4 :bow2
Smooth, but wasn't Halo 3 also not 720p?
-
it's not the 665p that bugs me, it's the choppy 30 fps
behold the power of the 7600gt
-
I dont preorder bad games
-
Wasn't it confirmed to be at 60?
-
yeah cause its graphics technology that is really holding japanese developers back
and not their sheer incompetence
i'm pretty sure the SIREN PS3 demo's texture palette can be entirely loaded into 4 MB of RAM.
-
*yoink*
yoink? Where are my pixels? I don't play games without my extra 55p.
-
I dont preorder bad games
Nailed it.
-
Wasn't it confirmed to be at 60?
By Whom?
The Sony hype squad at neogaf?
They still think Lair was true 1080p. :lol
-
Single player was confirmed to be 60.
-
this game would have been poop at 1080p, to be fair. Metal Gear is awful wankery.
but yah 665p is totally :lol :lol
Thank you PC, for allowing me to play games that can use modern technology. You're so awesome.
-
Single player was confirmed to be 60.
single-player MENUS were confirmed at 60 fps

Single player was confirmed to be 60.
Someone who's finished MGS4 confirmed at GAF that it runs at 30fps with some slowdown moments.
Sony's "1080p and 60fps" minimum crap.
Sony: Always delivering less than 1/2 of what was promised. Live in you world, dream in ours.

Single player was confirmed to be 60.
Sorry but nothing was confirmed. And by confirmed I mean confirmed by devs not IGN wanking journalists.
It's pretty pathetic for both 360 and PS3 to not deliver their flagship titles @ 720p and 60 fps. It's embarrassing that the only way to play this gen titles in their full glory is on PCs.
EMBARRASSING
oh, I thought other people who had played it had confirmed 60fps.
I agree that 60fps looks nice and I used to be a fanatic about framerates, but everybody makes way too big of a deal about this kind of shit. It has to have seriously shitty and consistent drops for me to notice or care these days.
I mean, pixel counting in games like Halo 3 and MGS4 is like going to the world series, having your team win, then saying the game sucked because your team's uniforms were too dirty.
So much for Microsoft's "720p and 2xAA" and Sony's "1080p and 60fps" minimum crap.
what about sony's 120fps statements? :lol
-
what about sony's 120fps statements? :lol
Wasn't that Krazy Ken's insane bumbling?
I think so. I think he said it at some point during the hour long video of GT4HD or whatever the hell that was.
-
120fps was mentioned since that is apparently the next Big Thing (tm) with HDTVs, and of course Sony would like to sell you a huge new Bravia as much as they would a PLAYSTATION 3 COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM.
-
Thankfully, the game will still be fucking awesome.
:bow

whatever, it's missing 55p. 55P
-
The beta looks real clean though. A fucking bore to play, but then I never expected to like it. Seems like hot sex for fans of MGS gameplay though.

This is certainly true. PS3 being a pillar in Sony's CE market is something that quite a few people tend to forget, especially when the arguments steer towards console war territory. Why didn't Sony go with something like Wii? Because that'd fuck with the CE market. I don't mind the approach, but this one seems to regularly escape quite a few people.
As for MGS, didn't Kojima make a point about HD resolutions, or the lack of interest in pushing those resolutions, some time ago?

He also mentioned dual output 1080p- two Bravias! So smooth groove's picture should be twice as big.
-
Thankfully I never preordered that game. Trailers look awesome..but I have stayed off the hype train for the most part. I will pick it up for sure...but later
on the 360.
-
it's 1024x768 with temporal AA like DMC4 (blending frames, not true AA) and 30fps, still this is MGO and not MGS4, save your trolling for the right time.
-
I've been playing the MGO Beta since I got home from work, it's pretty fun. Slow paced, but fun.
-
I wish we could just go back to playing games to have fun instead of babbling about numbers. Of course, to do that we would have to go back to before the internet...

It's fun. Had some great moments so far
--Grenade blew me off a building and I survived
--Got grabbed by a guy, like 5 people from the other team were around us, I broke out of the grab, accidentally equipped the box as I ran away, quickly unequipped it and equipped a gun and shot down 3 dudes who were chasing after me. I think Wesker was the one who grabbed me. Great moment :)
but I don't know how to level up.
-
Wasn't MGO made by a different team inside Kojima Productions?
-
I honestly hope you guys are not serious about refusing to play a game because of that.
-
and even worse for the fanboys.
Oh man, do you reckon there will be martyr blood? I figured you'd know since you're such a fucking bleeding martyr and all.
As for MGS4, I'll wait and see what TTP says. He's about the only one you can actually trust with this shit.
-
Calm down, guys. If this were a serious troll thread, you think it'd have so many references to our supposed Xfaggotry?
-
We need an emote with a mob carrying torches and pitchforks.
-
relax emperor.
-
goddam DC...do people come here just to troll you?
You must be honored.
:bow dcharlie :bow2
-
Don't talk back to the Emperor, McDragon.
When will your GAF ban be lifted? The Xbot army needs your fud spreading abilities.
-
3rd of may.
-
What did you get banned for over there?
-
evilbore link.
-
well, i told you all in a previous thread that the Halo "not 720p" thing would come back to haunt sony fans with this game.
You knew this would happen with MGS4 back when Halo 3 released? Impressive.
if the frame rate thing is right - and if that frame rate in aki is the FINAL in game frame rate - then this is going to turn out very horrible for Kojipro - and even worse for the fanboys.
Or there will just be a quiet little war about it on gaf and the world will be none the wiser. Just like with Halo 3.
Couldn't care less about pixel counting, but the drama is so lame. It wasn't important when it happened with Halo 3, except to a few over-dramatic people, and now history is repeating itself. :-*
-
damn no wonder the xfags are crying their eyes out
mgo being fucking awesome
gta4 superior on ps3 confirmed
i would cry too if i was a stinking xfaggot

I don't want to shove it in peoples face because i think the game is now garbage, i wan't to shove it in peoples faces because they were full of bullshit for other games, and now the biggest title on their favourite system has the same "issue".
You want to shove it in people's faces because hey, it's something any fanboy wants to do, dinosaur-dude. Well, at least you seem to finally have gathered enough spine bits and pieces to actually stand behind your bias, so I suppose that's progress. Next, try shedding some of that tinfoil padded bullshit too, yeah?
-
Resolution and pixel count dont matter. Call of Duty 4 ownzorrrrrrrrrrred all the gaming fegs

DCHARLIE HAVE YOU PLAYED MGO YET WHAT DID YOU THINK? :-[

DCHARLIE HAVE YOU PLAYED MGO YET WHAT DID YOU THINK?
going to start it downloading now and will try it after cooking.
not really bothered about the online game, more interested in the single player, but quite interested in giving it a whirl.
I'll let you know what i think later.

once everything was setup and ready to go i was really surprised at how solid the online is
-
is all this rigamarole just for the beet-ah, or will it be required in the full game as well
-
so not only does it run at a better framerate than halo 3, it also runs in a higher resolution than both halo 3 and cod4?
year of the ps3 knows no boundaries :bow2

The whole download and install process has actually been fairly smooth for me, but there's something off about using a fucking torrent system to distribute updates to a console game. One that is exclusive to one platform, no less. It does showcase the downside of Sony's open format more than any game before it, as it feels completely detached from the whole PSN deal. As a PC gamer, it doesn't necessarily bother me as I'm used to software specific accounts and so forth, but it certainly doesn't fit in very well with the turnkey console standard.
-
The game isn't that great though. I love me my tactical military games, but this is just plain the wrong type of technical shooter. It revels in weapon types and in the many ways you can use said weapons, but actually, you know, using them is really a remarkably dull throb in the ass, with splinters of hard shit mixed in for the hell of it. The issues that people have had with signing up for it should be considered a taste of what the actual game is like.
-
lol - so it maybe that i have to download the JPN version.
so i did so for most of last night - but seemed to stall at 60%.
logged off ps3, got up this morning around 7 ish, started to download...
oh! but no resume! start alllll over again.
fantastic - so it just finished dl'ing v1.1 so i quit out and restart the game as instructed.
Go back in....
Could not connect to server.
maintenance.... from 10 am until 12am ... everyday by the look of it.
What a convenient time to do maintenance - this is much better than doing it at, say, 4am.
And DAILY maintenance... to all the servers.... at once?
gah.
I want to try this out to see if it , cough, "better looking than 99% of games out there".
this entire experience has been a complete joke from start to finish - it's a farce.
Hmm, I had very little trouble downloading the game friday night, from start to finish. The biggest headache was the whole Konami ID/Game ID thing; I ended up creating a new Konami ID, got my game ID, and proceeded to download with no problem. The bit torrent shit was annoying, but didn't take long, and it was all up and running within a half hour or so.

The game struck me as largely the same as the previous PS2 MGS3 Subsistence multiplayer, so if you've played that, you have a really good idea of what to expect. It can be fun, but it's just not something that I see lasting for very long. The control also just isn't smooth enough.
