I'm referring to Dead Space the game, not what's between my ears.
There's a lot of great ideas going into this game, both ideas about what makes a great survival horror, as well as unique new ideas. A bunch of great ideas and a ton of enthusiasm doesn't mean a great game, but if they can pull it off, Dead Space could be awesome.

Interview: http://games.kikizo.com/features/deadspace_iv_p1.asp
And a some of quotes from the interview:
There aren't going to be any cut-scenes; everything about the game is about trying to keep you in it, that's why there's no HUD, that's why your character sees a video log in front of him rather than it taking over your screen
We call the suit the 'rig'. It shows your meter that slows down time. You also have the air timer on there. And then also there's the ammo count.
Kikizo: The level you showed us, Chapter 3, you say this level is 1 hour 20 minutes in total. This seems quite long, especially considering the mood. What is the thinking behind this?
Schofield: I think that hardcore gamers will probably get through in 50 minutes to an hour. But you know, I think that's a good length for survival horror. It's intense; it's a slower pace. If I had really small levels at that slower pace, it wouldn't feel right. So I feel really good about the size.
And it's really up to you on how you want to deal with that, because if you cut off the head of that one enemy, the slasher, he's coming at you alive a little faster, and he's swinging, so it's a different kind of combat there - you can cut off his legs, but now he's crawling at you and he's harder to get. Or you cut off his arms, but then he'll just run at you! So there's no real one-shot kill in the game, and that was intentional.
A real core part of the game is the pacing and keeping you on your toes. You may go twenty minutes without an encounter, but you may be scared shitless in those twenty minutes!
Well, I'm excited. Anyone else?

Too scary, sorry. >:(

Go play Cold Fear instead, same thing
-
looking forward to it.

I think it looks pretty damned hot. Nothing that really comes through in screens, but placing the combat focus on "proper" dismemberment is a beautiful touch. Sci-fi horror has as far as I know still not been done real well in games, and hopefully this will change that.
-
it's got some touches of The Thing (the movie, not the video game) in there, so I'm hoping for the best
-
much more excited now that I know it's survival horror.
-
Interesting game. Love the idea that the energy bar is the guys spine and not something on the ui.

No HUD is a win. We're seeing that a little more in games lately and I hope this becomes the norm in games wherever possible.
