hay eb--
So I attempted to make an animated gif and it took way too long and ended up kinda sucking:

I felt like I was doing it wrong: using the screenshot feature of VLC (which has no hotkeys, afaik), resizing each frame manually and saving each one as .jpg manually in paint.net, then adding them to easy gif animator. Easy gif animator allows you to resize in the program, but it sucks--it kept crashing when I used full sized images in .png format.
is there an easier way? preferably something that lets me edit batches of photos, maybe a screenshot program that saves with my pre-set sizes and file types, and a gif creator that is better?

There is no easy way. Everybody is doing it like that.

I use VirtualDub to create a segmented AVI or collection of frames. Then open that up in whatever GIF program you want to use.
