This is truly a perfect moment in internet gaming dork history. Even when the fanboy knows very well that Yahtzee always calls it like he sees it, has no pretense behind what he thinks is shit, and is mostly just for entertainment, he still can't control himself when his favorite game gets a complete ass raping.
The ZP SSBB review:

How criminal of me :-[

The best part was his comparison of the consoles to various types of dogs at the end.
-
i'm glad i'm not an overly excited console fan.

what the fuck? i have been following this method of criticizing game for a while. argh i fucking hate this distinguished mentally-challenged fellow. suddenly trolling games is cool now because of this guy.

Yahtzee is the Gilmore Girls of videogame reviewers. If you talk fast enough, it makes what you're saying sound funny and smart.

Nevermind this post.

lol, I saw GTA4 playing in a game shop today, the graphics are soooo shit, what an ugly game. I will probably rent it this weekend so I can beat it and slag it off legitimately
edit: and I agree so much with Joe
Yahtzee is a bloody pommie poof (no offense intended to our awesome British Ebers)

haha, but no seriously, getting mad at yahtzee is like a cat trying to catch a laser pointer. it's just not going to make sense until you use the FOIL method.

:lol yeah, so true... honestly as a major Smash Bros fan he brings up a few good points, i.e. that the level of unlockables in a lot of fighting games are ridiculous and it causes the whole imbalance of power when you just want to play a multiplayer game with friends (i.e. the person who spends time with single player to get all the unlockables, will be superior at the game)... but that's a complaint valid for nearly every fighting game, so why did he just single out Smash? And the Mother 3 not being released in the US complaint was legitimate too.

just read through that...I still can't believe people really don't get that yahtzee has a shtick and zero punctuation is more of a show than real criticism. and this is exactly what I mean--zero punctuation was fine before without much controversy besides Halo 3, but when its about SSBB, oh no, suddenly it has gone way too far. :lol

like a lot of comedy, it's all about timing and delivery.

Unlockables do wonders to appease the most casual fighting game fans. Leave everything open from the beginning and they'll say "there's nothing to this game", cut the cast in half to be incrementally unlocked and they'll say "SO MUCH BONUS CONTENT". Unlockable content is what's keeping the genre alive.

Smash doesn't need unlockables though. The characters alone are enough to guarantee quadrillion copies sold. Multiplayer is also the big draw.
actually, I take that back-- I doubt anyone would finish SSE if it didn't open up characters. so then I submit that they should put more effort into the level design of SSE instead of floating it on unlockables.
