it is up on xbox 360... pc version delayed lol
-
wasnt impressed when i played this a few weeks ago, see how it goes now
-
ok this level is less brown
and i wrote off my car. better than GTA
-
replay mode rules. 87% total damage from my crash. the AI kept making mistakes too.
oh and if you hate GT's tyre screech you will loathe this game
-
I'm noticing a trend among bumper car loving Sony fans, to claim that the cars in GRID lack weight. Any of you get that impression from this demo? Or are we just looking at jilted GT bubs? My download is, again, compromised by Grizzly Bear.
-
:rock RR6
gotta get this demo. thanks for the heads up demi
-
x360: 720p 4xaa
ps3: 720p 2xaa
-
GRID demo is hot
-
Yep, same DiRT I know and love, but this time its actual racing
Flashback mode is a neat idea
The achievements are worse though, so I will have to pass this time
-
That was alright. Played the jaggier PS3 version, of course. The actual racing was fun, but it really should be a hell of a lot more attractive than it is, especially considering the 30fps. Nice destruction though.
-
The cars have way more grip than you expect them to, even on pro handling.
-
Oh dear, I'm a bit behind. I'll have to download this tonight.
And enjoy it as much as I can because my 42" plasma is going in for repairs for 2-4 weeks on Monday and I'll be on my old 20" 4:3 CRT. :'(
-
I loved it... I think it's the best looking racer so far this gen (unless GT5 gets a damage model as good as this). I honestly couldn't tell it was 30 fps. This is the smoothest 30 fps ever in a racer.
-
i dont think it's as smooth as PGR4 but when you consider the damage physics I'm very happy with it. it's the sort of damage i hoped Forza 2 would have
-
I finally downloaded it and have played each discipline once. I'm playing with the in-car view and it's quite a visceral experience. I played the US muscle cars last and I enjoyed them the most, probably because I actually kept up with the pack and could fight it out a bit (eventually I crashed and fell behind of course). I'm playing with the assists off and it's really good so far.
Tomorrow I'll try it with a wheel and I suspect like almost all racing games, it'll be even better. And it should slow down the in-car steering wheel which whips around quite a lot when playing with a controller.
-
This games looks awesome and I'm crap at playing the Suzuka track but the game can suck my soft brown turd since it assumes the player will have a western name.

I haven't checked out either version but apparently the 360 has 4x AA while the PS3 only has 2XAA. It should make a pretty noticeable difference.
-
This looks like white hot fire. The graphics are out of this world and infinitely more appealing than GT5 and it's a hell of a lot more fun too. I kept thinking throughout the demo of how far we've come in the last 10 years as far as visuals go. Very impressive stuff.
I'm really lovin' Codemasters' engine here. Can't wait to see more of Operation Flashpoint 2.
And yeah, the 360 version looked better than the PS3 one. It's very transparent when you compare the San Fransisco tracks.
-
day 1 purchase for me after playing the demo. considering how big of a PGR fan i am, i'm ready to move on after playing the fuck awesomeness of GRID. i was VERY impressed with the sounds -- added to the realistic looking damage it's pretty much a no brainer. and last but not least, it was FUN.
-
Hilarious.

wow that video is made of highly focused coherent beams of total ownage.
Trying the PC rev of the demo tonight. I loved DiRT and the earlier TOCA games, so my expectations are pretty high. :)

GRID has made me a fucking believer.
-
game is shit hot
-
OK. GRID + a wheel = pee-my-pants-un-fucking-believably-awesome.
I'm not really sure what else to say.
:bow :bow :bow Codies :bow2 :bow2 :bow2
:lol @ Tieno - that was brilliant.
-
:rofl @ the GT5 vs GRID video. Has that been posted on GAF?
Played the demo earlier, it's pretty cool and the graphics are sick. What is the proper way to turn in this game though?
-
omg that video makes me want GRID
-
That video was fucking great. I WANT GRID TOO
-
I can watch that video over and over again. I love the sound the car makes in GT5 as it gets knocked 50 yards backwards off the track. It's like a cue ball. :lol
Someone GAF that shit.
-
the elevator music makes it :lol
-
GT5P is FILLED with elevator music.
-
I dont play racing games but that was hilarious
fucking bumper cars :rofl
-
wait, the bumper car physics is real?
-
WOW.
-
wait, the bumper car physics is real?
GRAN TURISMO - THE REAL DRIVING SIMULATOR
-
:rofl :rofl
-
I thought the thing with GT is that they have an agreement that they get to use real cars only if they dont trash them in game.
-
Someone GAF that shit.

lol, they got angry fast

Like kicking a beehive.

forza did it just fine, sure the damage models isn't as impressive as say, burnout or grid but they did it with better physics too.
-
Ja I dunno then. I suck at GT/Forza/PGR games

GAF be gettin' angrier.
-
they arent taking it very well
-
I thought the thing with GT is that they have an agreement that they get to use real cars only if they dont trash them in game.
I would rather have them just react realistically than actually be damaged. The latter is just graphical whorism, but you can abuse the physics in GT so badly. Just make the cars spin out or come to a halt like they should even if they look perfect.
-
GT5 really feels like a relic at this point. But then I think the whole "sim" approach is poorly advised in general. There's a lot of stuff lost in the translation to the video game format, so you'd think that developers who aim to create racing experiences would realize that you need to compensate for all those things lost by exaggerating other aspects. Codemasters is seemingly the only developer of "conventional" racing games that gets this.
-
I've never really enjoyed sim racers myself. More of a Ridge fan. GRID does look interesting.
-
I've been playing the PS3 version and I'm hooked. Took a little bit to get the controls but I think this should quell my racing itch til MS2 arrives.
