:hurr :hurr :hurr
So awesome. I couldn't help but realize there is no self loathing, emo bullshit to be found here. There's some fantasy metal stuff (Thing That Should Not Be) but mainly the album deals with various forms of mental/physical slavery, from drug addiction to organized religion bullshit. :punch
If I had to make one complaint it would be that the first half of nearly every solo just goes in every direction but the song's; all the second halves wind up following the rhythm section. The best written solos imo are on Welcome Home and Leper Messiah. :punch
Plus I forgot how much melody there is :-*
Every song rocks :punch
Fuck awesome opening song :punch
Fuck aweosme-er closing song :punch
Melody Metal :punch

you're gay for liking an overrated and popular metal album just because it's the most famous one. There's no reason for you to dislike Maiden going by that description you gave
But yeah, you need a single token Metal album to claim you 'listen to metal' so w/e.
-
i like maiden distinguished mentally-challenged fellow :punch
-
RTL is better.
-
I was going to say RTL was better too, but I dunno. They're practically the same album.
-
I remember you saying how 'repetetive' and tired out they were and that they needed to stop.

i was trolling that distinguished mentally-challenged fellow powerslave. what a pansy; so glad he's gone amirite
RTL is probably better btw
-
you trolled me another time with this, but that post was serious.
-
i have a great bootleg from the Justice tour in 89 i'll upload tonight

It's such an american thing to LOVE Metallica and dislike Maiden.

RTL is better.
The title track of that album is my fav. :rock

Puppets is my least favorite of the four Metallica albums.

Bruce Dickinson is a tw@.
-
Maiden has some cool solos but other than that they're pretty weak imo.
Also this:

hetfield couldn't rescue refugees with his private jet

durrrrr metallica plays some catchy riffs and makes a couple of good songs and now they're the kings of metall durrrrr AMERICAN METAHL
-
this thread is a disaster!
fine, rank the 4(5) Metallica albums
-
pd have you listened to any other maiden song other than the trooper and the number of the beast?
-
I don't care for Metallica
:tomato
-
I've listened to their first 5 albums in their entirety, and Dance of Death. I've heard an assortment of stuff from their other albums
-
So barely missed out on Somewhere In Time?
Check out Brave New World and their latest album.
sorry I shitted up your thread but I just get so annoyed with the praise Metallica gets for the so little they have done. They are featured and mentioned everywhere, while greater metal bands like Judas Priest and Maiden don't even get a hint of mention. If some popular magazine made a top 40000 best metal bands list, these two bands wouldn't even make the cut.
-
not a big judas fan but I like maiden and blind guardian. i love early megadeth, SOME anthrax. not a big slayer fan
I love Metallica's first 5 albums
-

Dickinson's voice is, quite literally, like nails on chalkboard. Not nearly as bad as Halford though.
Master of Puppets is hugely overrated but still alright.
And Justice For All :rock
Ride the Lightning :rock
For me Metallica still doesn't hold a candle to Pantera, though.
-
Bruce does opera vocals. You can't call that awful just because you like growling voices screaming out 'YEAAHHHHHRRRZZZZZ'
-

Dio >>>> Halford and Dickenson combined.
Also Pantera took over for Metallica in the 90's because Metallica started SUCKING ASS!
:bow Reinventing the Steel :bow2 Heaviest Pantera album imo.
-
duh 90s Pantera>>>>>>>90s Metallica. I like many 90s Metallica songs but the albums were meh to say the least
Dio>*
-
the song Holy Diver sucks. Heaven and Hell is better.
-
the song Holy Diver sucks. Heaven and Hell is better.
>:( Heaven and Hell were amazing though, saw them last year with Megadeth opening. :rock I think I'll prob see Heaven and Hell again on their new tour with Motorhead, Testament and Priest.
-
Heaven and Hell, the song from Sabbath with Dio on the vocals.

Fuck yo couch, I'm just going to listen to Samhain.

You mean with the Minor Threat people?
Samhain is kinda my favorite of the Danzig bands. That's probably tough to defend, but the Misfits got played out during my teenage years, and Danzig (the band) was way too hit and miss, even before they completely fell off after the third album. I actually don't even particularly like How the Gods Kill.
-
yessir, that's exactly what i mean.
i still love the misfits and i never really got into danzig, but bits of samhain are quite enjoyable

Even on the first two Danzig albums that I like, it seems like I either love an individual song, or I skip it. So there are like 6 awesome tunes or so on each album.
I found this on youtube looking for Samhain-related stuff. I thought it was kinda cute, and gory:

-
:bow Eric P :bow2
-
holy fuck eric p for icon :bow
BREADFAN :punch
btw my rankings (i think)
RTL
Justice
MoP
KeA
Black Album
MoP is nigh perfect imo, but I give the edge to RTL and Justice because overall they're better written albums. Not in terms of lyrics but in terms of the music, from the rhythm sections to the riffs
-
Master of Puppets is good stuff, but it ain't got nothin' on One.
/opinion
-
My download keeps stopping midway. :(
-
icon status revoked!
-
It worked! :D
-
holy shit this is awesome. eric p with the piff :bow
-
btw my rankings (i think)
RTL
Justice
MoP
KeA
Black Album
That's exactly how I would rank them. Justice would've been even more awesome if it had better production. The drums sound more like "clicks" than "pounds". The album is in desperate need of remastering.
-
I forgot how fuck awesome Master of Puppets is
this is like saying 'i forgot how fuck awesome ghostbusters is'
it is a sentence that i simply can't parse, it's like you're speaking a completely different language
Leper Messiah :rock
Master of Puppets :punch <-Quite possibly the greatest metal song of all time, probably responsible for the majority of my hearing loss
-
o hai, look whud i found

:bow Eric P :bow2
IN my experience... I first hear AJFO and was floored. So I went back and listened to MOP... and was even more floored.... the experienced RTL and was :o. How did I live without that master catalog for so long and considered myself a metal fan. SMH
I've never had a musical journey like that ever.
Being able to play some of these song on Rock Band is such a trip. :D
-
Eric P just keeps posting these one by one from a Metallica bootleg forum and takes all the credit for it.

"Enter Sandman" on Rock Band owns me. I can't get the hammer-on pull-off stuff at all. Meanwhile, I'm stoked to get that track with RHCP's Flea playing with these monsters. Wooooo!
