Finish the extra mission on PC GOW.  GOW2 trailer being released tonight got me hyped up to play it again.  Luckily, the newest patch seems to have fixed most of the stability/performance problems of the PC version.

I'm going to a neighboring prefecture to see the premiere of VIDEO GAME MOVIE OF THE YEAR: Oneechanbara.  Yes, the Simple 2000 bikini-girl-killing-zombies game is now a motion picture.  The hope is that it will be laughably bad, and not just bad.

Suikoden V
World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade
Puzzle Quest PC

How is Suikoden V by the way? I really enjoyed the first 3 but the fourth had some pretty bad design choices. Seemed like they were trying to go back to the style of the first two but I keep holding off on buying it because of how awfully dull the fourth game was.

Finished this week-
Ys Oath of Felghana (An utterly amazing game that sadly won't be played by 98% of the gaming population. Easily the best of the series and one of the best Action JRPG I have played in a long time.)
Gargoyle's Quest 2 (Fun but the music is lacking compared to the GB one and the last bosses are stupidly easy)

Playing this weekend-
Persona 3 (Playing it for the first time and am kinda taken a back by its presentation. It's not as dark as I was expecting coming from a Persona game but the style is growing on me. There's some really cool aspects about it that will keep me playing but it seems like they really dumbed down the combat system.)
FallOut 2 (Been wanting to play this for a long time and now I have finally set aside some time to try it)

Suikoden V is nice, only drawback is the ugly graphics and the feminine main character.

GTA IV, I'm at 30% or something and it's starting to feel a bit like a grind. Still like it, but I probably need to play it less intensely.

Maybe some Halo 3.

Enl - do you have the Oath in Felghana beta patch?

I'm playing Suikoden 1, and now that Jojo gave me a PS2 JP power cord I can revisit my JP PS1 and 2 games, so I've been playing a bit of Internal Section and Umihara Kawase Shun.

Yeah I have it. It's a really good translation too and I commend them for all the hard effort they put into it, but Nightwolve's temper tantrum has gone on for too long and his rant at the end of his "Plight" (http://nightwolve.web.officelive.com/standby.aspx) was borderline childish (it's the internet, he should've expected there to be assholes). The translation has been finished for a long time now and they should just let people try it instead of taunting them with it.

Which version? SNES, PSone, or GBA.  I've been wanting to get me hands on Tactic Ogre and its prequel, but those games are very rare.  Here's hoping for some VC release or something.

I don't know if I like COD4 MP or not.  I think the perks system is bullshit.  Occasional players like me will never get all the special abilities, so we pretty much have to be resigned to the fact that we're always going to be at a disadvantage, thus limiting the amount of fun we can ever have playing.  Rewarding people for being good players by giving them even MORE of an advantage is, well, fucking stupid.  Also, some of the perks themselves are distinguished mentally-challenged.  That one where you drop a grenade when you die is especially weaselly.  I get the drop on the best player in the match, but am not allowed any joy from it because I get punished by that horseshit.  You got killed fair and square, so suck it up and respawn without all the pussy grenade dropping, shithead.  Now I own two copies of this fucking thing for two systems.    :(

also, having to unlock the different mp modes through "experience" is about distinguished mentally-challenged as well.

i want to play headquarters in this game i paid for, but i can't until i meet your fuckstupid qualifications?  eat a dozen dicks, infinity ward.

that's lame

it's a shame that EA killed the BF2 community with a ton of quick, non-interchangeable releases, because i still think that is my absolute favorite online game

I'm digging Shadowrun Genesis, it's a much better implementation of the license to game form than the SNES game, the dialogue is miles better too, the inventory system has a lot more depth and the game is very addictive, but the music blows compared to the excellent airs in the SNES version, and the randomly generated errands get old real fast

Oneechanbara made an Uwe Boll movie look like the Godfather.  LAUGHABLY horrendous movie; we were rolling on the floor the entire time.  The main female lead said maybe five words and two complete sentences the entire movie.  The other lead spoke a little more, but not much.  Really there was probably around 10 minutes of actual dialogue during the entire movie, and most of it came from the "comic relief," this big fat guy who is a real actor and plays "Kuma" in Gokusen.

More a little later.

It got a limited release, so we had to go to a neighboring prefecture (where a friend of mine lives) to go see it.  There was a whopping FOUR people in the theater; the three of us and some old guy who must have wanted to see some skin or something.  He kept checking his cell phone every few minutes...I really hope he didn't expect something good.   :lol  The movie's image quality was also awful...looked like a .WMV file blown up on the big screen.  Really hard to see what was going on at some points.

I want to say more on it in a new topic when I get a chance.  I don't think I've ever seen a movie this horrible in a theater before.  It actually DOES stay somewhat faithful to the games.

It doesn't take long ot unlock all the match types. Since you hate the perk system, just play on hardcore once you unlock it. You pick up weapons laying on the ground like in traditional FPS games.

How much did you have to pay to see it, Lyte? I remember movie tickets being pretty pricey in Japan.

We saw the 8 pm show, so the price went down.  1200 yen for a ticket.  We grabbed like every mini-poster they had for the movie, too!   :lol

Here is an example of dialogue in this wonderful piece of cinematic art.  One that has changed the way I look at the world, without question:

Aya: ...........................................
Saki: ...........................................
Aya: ...........................................
Saki: .............................Oneechan.
Aya: .................................Saki.....
Aya: ............................................
Saki .........................Oneechan. Shine.
Aya: .............................................
Both: .............................................

The CG used was so awful.  It looked like it was from the PS2 version of the game.  Most of the "fights" against zombies involved the girl playing Aya sort of flailing her arms and waving her sword, while horrible CG white "slashes" appeared on the screen.  The girl playing Reiko used a shotgun and I don't think she reloaded once.  You didn't really see the gun fire so much as you saw white flashes appear near whoever she shot.  And the zombies?  There were two types: The normal zombies looked more like angry KISS fans doing a terrible impression of the Thriller dance when they moved.  Then there were stronger zombies who could use weapons and do martial arts for some reason.  These were all males and they all were hoodies and baggy pants.  In fact just about everyone seemed to have a hoody at some point.  There was also a zombie female who looked like a dead version of GoGo Yubari from Kill Bill.  She even used the same weapon.  Blood hits the camera just like in the game.  No, scratch that, it's the SAME blood splotch effect RIGHT FROM THE GAME.    :lol  There is never any explanation given as to why Aya is walking around looking like a stripper in a feathery bikini, although most of the time she's covered up by a cloak.  They just use some fan servicey-shots and show off her body (she could have used some more time in the gym!) every now and then.  Most of the time you just see her face; the actress barely speaks so it's just shots of her looking left or right.  She seems to have trouble expressing any kind of emotion.  Same with the chick playing her sister.  If this is supposed to be on purpose, they did and awful, awful job.  I don't think I can think of a bigger train wreck of a video game movie.  Even other terrible shit like Street Fighter at least has dialogue, plot, and character development.  This movie is just sort of like the characters wandering around from location to location with no explanation given, sitting or standing around, zombies come, kill kill kill kill, repeat.  Just like the game, I guess.

The end of the movie uses more horrible CG, as Aya and Saki face-off, powering up Dragonball Z-style.  When they both jump in the air with flames around them, I burst out laughing so hard.   :lol

I recently started over from square one (not through Prestige mode, just a new username), and I'm noticing that I'm not really missing the later perks all that much. Give me Steady Aim and Stopping Power, and I'm set. The starting weapons aren't bad either, although I do miss the P90. That, and the Claymore, but the C-4 is quite nice too.

As for other people using perks, you learn to tackle it. I hated the martyrdom perk as much as anyone the first few times I ran into it, but at this point I rarely get killed from it. Don't run past fresh corpses, basically.

In other news, Metroid Prime Corruption is atrocious.

Interesting, this trailer was 10 times more violent than what I saw in the theater.
