I was browsing on another forum (pro-tip:it rhymes with geo-staff) and I am seeing some posts claiming that the Resistance 2 gameplay footage that was leaked this week as "midblowing". The only footage that I saw of it was incredibly grainy and you could hardly discern anything, other than the fact that it was Resistance 2 being played. Was there a higher quality video released or is this just FUD?
-
It sucked big time, so insomniac cried a bit and the sources of the footage took it down.
It was posted in a thread and the thread barely moved. Not kittowny, no Wollan, no Ncroal. Even sony reps hid their heads in shame.
So we are pretending it didn't happen. :)
-
It was compressed to shit, but for me the graphics weren't really that important (I couldn't tell) but the actual footage was uninteresting and tame, then again I only played very little of Resistance MP because I got turned off immediately. Don't think that'll change with R2 after seeing that.
-
Looked exactly like Resistance 1, just like I expected.
-
Did I mention the stick up your butt run animation?
No?
I should have. :lol
-
If you'll notice, none of the crew being allowed to shit up the Gears thread ever ONCE mentioned Resistance 2 in that thread. :lol
-
I missed the first "leak", and haven't bothered with looking for any more footage. The game will be awesome, although hopefully they can get a better balance of cleverly sci-fi and brutally "real world" weaponry in the game this time around.
And FancyFeast, would you grow the fuck up already? Your crap is low grade even by NeoGAF troll standards.

AltogetherAssgasm I presume?
Eat shit you filthy shill. Yea, I am the one that ranked your ass HARD on NeoGAF. :-\

I hope they tweak the aiming assistance a little in Resistance 2. The Sixaxis's loose analog sticks made it hard to be accurate in the first game.
I just never got a good feel for the controls even after beating it. Part of it is because I usually play shooters with KB+M but I adjusted to Halo's controls after a few hrs.

Heh, I actually thought it was a bit too generous with auto-aim. Then again, it was hard to tell, what with most of the game being played with a auto-targeting weapon. Hopefully that doesn't remain the standard weapon.

Grow up, you bottom shelf twit.

I read somewhere that Resistance played really well with the Frag FX which was a weird combination of mouse and Wii- nunchuk.
Too bad they don't seem to be selling it anymore.
-
Oh, they are around. I owned one, but didn't really like it. The mouse doesn't feel right, somehow. It also has analog mouse buttons, which feels downright weird as they lack the *click* of a regular mouse. And then they put the PS face buttons on the left side, which resulted in me accidentally reloading every time I gripped the mouse. I'm sure it works fine after some practice, but it didn't mesh with me. A noble effort, but they need to refine it. Never tried it with Resistance though.
-
I hope they include KB+M support then. I used to think KB+M support for console shooters were really dumb but it makes more sense this gen since both the 360 and PS3 can be hooked up to a monitor.
My main problem with the Sixaxis is that I move too much because the sticks are so loose. Does the Dualshock 3 have stiffer sticks?

Does Resistance have a demo? Will R2?

yes.
-
OK, hope R2 does too. I borrowed my friend's copy but didn't try the multi.

Yeah. I wouldn't bother with it though, and I say this as someone who liked Resistance quite a bit. It's fun enough, but it really hasn't held up well. The SP has some very cool moments, but it felt like the company was sort of holding back on the craziness, something that they don't seem to be doing this time around.
That said, I still don't think Insomniac has received quiter enough credit for the online aspect of Resistance, considering when it was launched and on what system it launched on. Great online performance, awesome clan functions and stat tracking, it was really quite impressive. I don't think I could go back to Resistance online after playing COD4, but it was great for its time.
edit: Never mind, I thought you hadn't played it. Yeah, R2 will have a demo, hopefully both SP (or from the cooperative campaign) and MP.
-
I didn't bother much with Resistance's MP but I played it enough to see it was well done technically.
The graphics weren't compromised and the netcode was great.
-
Yea, I played it on my PS3 and before that I played it at two friends houses. Yawnfest but I'm looking forward to R2 anyway.
Is the R1 demo multi also?
-
Resisntace was boring as fuck, too many empty levels for the sake of being long. You could trim at least 1/4 of the levels off.
-
that's an issue with so many campaigns. devs need to have the balls to cut out fat. BioShock was guilty of this too, and now recently gta iv. why do the same chase mission 5 times when you can have one
-
The transitioning between levels was also terrible. Many levels ended just when the action got hot.
-
I saw the video in question and the first thing that came to my mind was COD4. It looks like COD4 but it's at half the framerate. I don't think COD4 gets enough merit for its technical stuff... 60 fps is amazing with those visuals.
-
I understand that people want length with their purchase, but I am not paying for FAT, I want prime beef, baby

Isn't that the primest beef you've ever seen?

I would even say that RE4 is about 20% too long. I think the game should have ended in the mansion.

Inithar personally said that alot of the stuff in the trailer is not final. For a game that is about 6 months off, alot can happen. I thought that was common sense, I guess not here.

Didn't read the OP?

Do people really think more players makes a game better?
Smart people realize that a game designed for it can be pretty damned awesome. It's a shame, but not surprising, that the starving console jockeys have swallowed the "no, 16 players is almost pushing it" bullshit. I'm sure the mindset will be reversed soon enough though. Sort of like how Gears of War should never have big battles with lots of enemies, because Gears of War gameplay would be ruined totally awesome with more enemies.
