been trying to make a sub account for over 30 minutes
could not establish a connection with the server, erases all the information i input so i have to do it all over again
when i finally get through it says I can't use the name i chose, but won't say why, and keeps saying that over and over no matter how many variations i make
fuck you psn
"it's free" doesn't rank, turds are free, too

I sure hope HOME is as easy to use
-
sounds like the sign up is still web based. they should've overhauled the entire process and not just the store.
-
so that's about 45 minutes of my life i'll never get back, and still never could get through
thanks, sony

for some reason, they don't accept my CC. I can buy Wii points so dang easily, but using the exact same info I can't buy anything on PSN. I gotta hunt down one of those rarely seen PSN cards.
Perhaps its because my PSN account and Credit Card account have different addresses. I dunno, I don't care, I just know I can't buy R-Types even though I really want to.
-
I've never really had problems with it. Well, creating my first account was a pain, but that was squarely because of my ISP. Entering CC information is a bitch though, as it is very sensitive with information. Putting "APT" when the CC statement reads "Apartment" results in failure.

Yeah, that'd be it. Which makes sense when you think about it, eh? That's just a common security measure, similar to how I can't use my reseller account to order things to other addresses than the ones listed with the resellers I deal with.
-
Eh, it's getting better
Live > PSN.
DUH.

And that is that.
I want a PSXbox4 made by Sony with software from Microsoft.
The chances of that are, unfortunately, looking pretty slim right now. I fully believe that this was Microsoft's intention; the Xbox business was never intended to be a stand-alone business to compete in the game console business, just a means to force Sony to accept Microsoft OS and services. I think that strategy was blown all the way to hell with the appearance of RROD and various other shortcomings of the 360 platform, and now MS has to face continuing with the brand on a stand-alone level, or just count its losses (and gains), ride the generation out, and then drop out.

I'm making a sub account right now and LOVING IT

Im level 55 lol

i'm okay at objective based games, but horrible at deathmatch games
i used to be pretty good at BF1942 and the first COD games but consoles have exposed my lack of motor skills regarding moving two sticks

I've determined that all the problems I've had connecting and getting updates to finish downloading are due to my Linksys wireless router. The PS3 is plugged in to it via ethernet cable, but I've watched the little lights, and the stupid router likes to disconnect/reconnect at the most inopportune times.
-
It must be a bitch to get into COD4 as a newbie at this point. I had to start over with a new username, and either the match making system is borked to hell, or every damned dude who plays this on PS3 has gone Prestige.
-
But COD4 is so much fun though. Part of the reason I dumped my old user-name was that I had gotten far too wrapped up in my COD4 stats, to the point where I didn't feel like playing certain game types because they, by their nature, threatened my k/d ratio. Figured if I start from the bottom, maybe I won't give a shit.
But yeah, if I was actually a beginner, I'd feel pretty discouraged right now.
-
a) I don't play games for 5 hours straight anymore
b) I can afford a new game a month, so I don't see the point in playing the same one for a year.
:bow

What model router?
PS3 loves to disrupt routers. Mine stopped doing it though for some reason.
-
I have a Netgear router, and that's been working quite well. It had some issues with the old Linksys though.
-
yeah, i'm not having a whole lot of fun, but i'm slogging it through to open all the gametypes, and i'll play with my rl friend who just bought a PS3. i won't buy another mp game structured in this way - probably means i won't be buying many mp games in the future, since the runaway success of cod4 will almost certainly lead to future mp games following the same "perks" and "levelling" system

Most of my problems with PSN is the retarted friendslist
-50 friends
-I have to scroll to the left right to go find it
-I have to hover over each and every name to see what game they're playing.
-I can't see where they are (SP, MP, whatever)
-I can't access it within a game
-I can't see wether I can join their session. This is very important, I use it a lot to join custom GAF Halo games on my 360.
I really noticed how annoying this is with GTA IV (have the PS3 vers), checked both my 360 and PS3 on who was playing it on launch day and it became apparant how behind just the friendlist functionality was, let alone how I can check my friendlist from my browser which I use too, to e-stalk and join games.

speaking of home. where's cohen? :'(
-
I'd sell my COD4 but the userbase is just THERE, if I ever (re: never) decide to entertain myself

speaking of home. where's cohen? :'(
He's away on business or something, he made a thread in OT
-
I can't understand what the purpose of PSN is without cross-game invites and messaging :gloomy
-
it exists to make home seem like something you'd want

Can't wait to check what my friends are playing and wether I can join them by visiting each and every appartment!

It's not just PSN. I swear, either the 2.2 update is messed up, or my PS3 is possessed by some mischievous imp.
Every time, and this is every single god damned time, I will start a download, then set it to "Download in the background".
What a load of tripe. It never downloads in the background! I even verify that it is downloading by waiting until it reaches 1%, then switch to either playing a game, watching a movie, or running f@h and doing something else entirely unrelated to the PS3.
Then, say, after I've watched a movie (two hours have passed by then) and I return to check my download status, it's at... 1%!
I have to literally press triangle then check the download status, and leave it on the screen for the damn progress bar to even move. Therefore, if I want to download anything, I have to just leave the PS3 on overnight or do something completely un-PS3-related.
Which, needless to say, bites the big one.
