Lets hope they are able to get to the 18,000. Its clear they need help with it tho, its not like china to be so open with its issues.

In the past, China has been known to keep such disasters secret in order to save face.  

At least, now they're putting the citizens first.  Hopefully, they'll get the help that is needed.

I bet the Chinese gov sees this as an opportunity to show how good they are in relief work. Also they want to show how different they are from other dictatorships like in Myanmar.

npr happened to be in the area for a new series on china, so they were on the spot.  they said it took authorities 5 hours to get equipment to the collapsed school and were reporting that parents could hear their children in the rubble for hours.

so yeah...
