From Konami's MGS4 LE PS3 bundle press release:
o The official Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots CD Soundtrack, including 16 never-before-released tracks by Harry Gregson-Williams (Shrek, Armageddon, The Rock), Nobuko Toda, and Ennio Morricone.
That is AWESOME.

They probably just got a license to use one of his songs.

That might be the case, but the wording makes it sound like he's contributing new music. And it wouldn't too surprising, the guy has done music for thousands of films.
-
Why isn't he still not dead yet?

only a month left :hyper :bow

I must be the only person who is excited about MGS4 that has no idea who Ennio Morricone is. Educated me.

He's a famous film composer who worked extensively with Sergio Leone in the 60s and 70s. He did the score for all those Spaghetti westerns like The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. He also did the score for Once Upon a Time in America, which is incredible.

Nope. I don't either
-
how is awesome that if they actually are never-heard-before tracks? they might've done something with the wording here, but either way, ennio morricone's music will be in mgs4 :bow2

A lot of the music in the Kill Bill films is from old Morricone scores.
You'll definitely recognize the songs "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" and "Ecstasy of Gold."
-
thanks distant. sounds even better now :heartbeat

I bet you would know about if Aventura were involved with the MGS4 soundtrack.

Oh wow, you're right. That's where I know the name from! I have both of the soundtracks for Kill Bill, which I greatly enjoy.
Now I'm very happy to have ordered the limited edition which I understand comes with the soundtrack.
-
People only having knowledge of Morricone through Kill Bill makes me want to vomit. This thread fails

He's most famous for doing the soundtrack to Caligula.

Dude. You just confirmed that you've never watched some of the greatest films ever made. Why havent you seen Leone's films? Or even The Thing for that matter? Morricone = god.
-
My bad, he didn't do Caligula. He did Salo, which is even awesomer.
-
OUATITW score>TGTBTU score
:o
-
Ill never agree with that argument. OUATITW has 2 fuckawesome pieces (Man With The Harmonica, Jill's Theme), while TGTBATU has 3 fuckawesome pieces (Main Theme, The Ecstasy Of Gold, The Trio).
3 > 2!
-
man with the harmonica is worth at least 2 points tho!
-
But Ecstasy is worth at least 7.5! And thats subtracting 2.5 because Metallica uses it to open their shows.
-
ENNIO MORRICONE
HOLY SHITFUCKHELL YES YES YES
MGS4 = game of the ever.

Let's wait until we actually play it before saying things we can't take back. ;)

Yes, but the S&M version makes it sound good at least!
-
true the SM version is great, but it's greatness is negated by THIS
