At Crymod (http://www.crymod.com/thread.php?threadid=26547) some pictures from an intended unofficial Crysis texture mod were published. On the left side, you see the normal version of Crysis, on the right side the texture enhancements. The new textures show increased color saturation and an improved contrast. Moreover, there are additional details to be seen, like structures of the floor or walls. Crytek themselves are working on an official texture update, which is scheduled for this year.

No doubt - those new textures are also higher resolution. You can tell the textures on the left start blurring with the close-up, but not nearly as much on the right side.
This is going to be sweet, but again, I will install this pack just to see what Crysis will look like.
I have Crysis, but refuse to play the game until either Nvidia releases a graphic card or ATI releases graphics cards that can run the game at 1920x1080 @ 30fps.

Cool, it'll make replaying Crysis more fun when I get two Geforce 280 GTX this summer.

I get the feeling that Crysis is going to be a showpiece for years.
