Title: Whatchu doing this weekend?
Post by: Mupepe on May 23, 2008, 10:07:47 AM
I work Saturday night from 6pm to 6am.  I love overtime.  :'(  But I figured I have monday off so it won't hurt too badly.

Wednesday is a friend's birthday so Sunday I'm going to a bar for a birthday party and Monday afternoon she's going to have a pool party at the pool in her apartments.  Should be hot shit.

Uh I dunno. I have no idea if I'm working Sunday or not since the schedule for next week was not posted the last time I work. Most likely doing a bit of job hunting and more Geometry Wars Galaxies playing. Yay?

Wife is still fighting a case of ehrlichiosis that she picked up from an eight-legged freak in one of the swamps we were birdwatching in on our vacation two weeks ago. She's been on antibiotics for a while, and I'm hopeful that today or tomorrow the fever wil subside without the use of tylenol.

So not too much action and excitement for me. I think I am going to start playing AC on the PC this weekend.

My in-laws are here for the weekend.

1. I'm working today, but we're going to see Indiana Jones and go out to dinner tonight.
2. Driving up to check out Bellingham (they want to move there) and Vancouver, BC.
3. Barbecuing with my parents and friends on Sunday.
4. Mariners game on Monday.
5. Another day off from work, taking the in-laws to the airport and then lounging around the house.

Distant: There's this great ice cream shop in downtown Bellingham that has all sorts of offbeat flavors like basil... it's definitely worth checking out while you're there.

This weekend is fairly busy for me:
Friday: Play Suikoden II in the morning, go bowling with my cousin, his g/f and some of his friends
Saturday: Suikoden II and chores in the morning, and at night on a date to see Indy 4
Sunday: Birthday party for 2 twin girls I know at their house
Monday: Chores around the house, Suikoden II once again

I've been there before, it's good! We just had an ice cream place open up near us in Seattle that has flavors like Balsamic Strawberry, Thai Iced Tea, Cardamom, Honey Lanvendar, and Salted Caramel.

making hiphop beats has been a hobby of mine since '99, so i've been on this make-music high for the past few months after being on a creative drought for about a year or so.  i'm rolling with it and trying to make some new tracks and *hopefully* put out a 2nd instrumental album this year.  the first project i did was pretty elementary, just a lot of drum breaks with some obscure samples (all software based with my 1200s being the sole piece of hardware).  now that i've got a pretty good grip on the MPC and a better setup, i'm doing much more chopping and flipping in addition to creating some more unique breaks and basslines.  it's a painstaking task because of all the little intricacies in sample manipulation and timing.  but it's a great creative outlet for me.

if you want a sample of some of my earlier work, check my profile which has a link to my cd baby page.  for the most part, i'd say it was a "learning to walk" type album.  not your typical boom-bap since i prefer to make more melodic sounding stuff.  if you want the full version lemme know and i'll send the mp3s.

I just got wireless for my 20GB PS3 after much anguish.

Earlier my friend and I were going to the cigar shop and he somehow got lost, and we wound up finding a motorcycle he might buy at a body shop I might want to use. Later he and I and others are gonna go to the Cheesecake Factory.

Tomorrow is carnival day with my gf

Sunday I'm going to do the last steps to get my car out of storage in preparation for putting it back on the road on Monday.

I spent yesterday driving up to the in-laws' house with my wife and this forum's own originalz.  Brought the PS3 so we could check out the picture on their 46" Aquos, very nice.  Then we went to a yakitori restaurant...this was my first time at one of these places and I liked it.  What I was a bit weary of was sitting in the same spot for four hours, particularly since this place just has you sit on the floor, Japanese style.  Not very comfortable.

Today, I dunno.  Some gaming I guess.

Today I drank beer, went to the hardware store, did some yard work, went out to dinner and bought some shoes.  Yeah, that's right.  I'm one exciting dude.

We're not really doing too much of anything this weekend outside of going to a BBQ party at a friend's house tomorrow.  Other than that, I'm just planing on doing a lot of sittin' and starin'.

I'm mostly working this weekend but I did get to watch this tonight:

Suprised the hell out of me. It's a very well done film that's kinda like a more personal, scaled down version of The Crazies. It's not for everyone since it is a character driven film that takes place in mostly one location. For those who can deal with slow paced, talky films you should really give this a shot.

Here's a rather poorly cut trailer of it. It makes it out to be an intense action film but it's really a dark and simple drama.

Just keep in mind when you walk into it that it's pretty low budget (not a home video levels of low budget though) and 98% of the film takes place inside a house. They do leave a lot of outside events to your imagination but I think that adds a great deal to the overall mood of the film.

i liked it when i watched it through netflix but i wouldn't pay any money for it.

though it was low budget and essentially takes place in one location, it did do quite well with what it had.

i liked the fall out, the birds dying and the like

but the human moments were a bit off somehow.

however this weekend I went to go see Goddard's Breathless on the Big Screen.  Pretty amazing.  even if they were just showing us the criterion DVD which i found to be hilarious.
