psychopathic musical :o
I had heard the movie was violent but I totally didn't expect THAT. Holy balls, I wish I saw this in theaters; I bet tons of people walked out :lol
I also didn't expect that much singing. It seemed a bit excessive initially but by the end of the movie I warmed up to many of the songs.
Pretty awesome take on the tired but true "man takes vengeance" arc.
8/10

It's adapted from the Sondheim musical of the same name, what the hell did you expect?
-
Sondheim :bow
-
it rocks. oh blu ray, where art thou?
-
Sondheim :bow
My wife is a big Sondheim fangirl, she's educated me in all things Sondheimian.
Region free Blu-ray is out in England courtesy of Warner. Paramount is just being fucking stupid not releasing it here.
-
:o I'm so buying it wednesday
-
my sister's high school put on a fucking great (for a high school play) production of Into the Woods last month.

Wait... so you had no idea that this is a well-known Broadway musical from nearly thirty years ago?
-
i knew it was based on a play, that's it.

Never seen any of any of that, although I have heard of West Side Story.
-
As much as I liked this movie, you could have been watching TWO episodes of Lost instead.
smh
-
I love this movie too. Cant wait for the North American BD.

I did!
Also, was I the only person turned off by the lazy CG? Some of the worse backgrounds I've seen in some time. A decade ago that would have been fully shot on location with a replicate of the city. I thought it was such a jarring juxtaposition with the beautiful costumes/makeup work.

I'm in the same boat as PD. :-[

You're going to have to turn in your gay card.

It was the most boring thing I have ever seen. So overhyped.

Wow. Good to know I wasn't the only one. I don't think I have the patience for musicals any more. By halfway I was fast-forwarding through every song just to get to the end of the flick.
-
I didn't mind it being a musical, the story was just too predictable. I had the same problem with Edward Scissorhands. I don't like Burton movies with Depp in them for some reason.
-
I just finished watching the movie a few hours ago. Wonderful production but a bad movie. I love the setting and the musical numbers......plot was just too rushed and predictable toward the end. Almost as if they knew they had 15 minutes left and crammed in as much as they could.
Shame too.
