Title: Local Arcade + Saturday Night + ....... = OMFG!!!!!!!
Post by: FancyFeast on May 25, 2008, 03:14:15 PM
Btw '........' is legal in California and I have a card so back off.

OMFG.

Best night ever.   8) 8) 8)

Girlfriend was way into Star Trek pinball and Ms pacman(used most of our quarters on ms pacman, she got a new record high score).

Myself?

I played:

.

I have no idea how this place stays in business, but is is AMAZING.  They even had a japanese version of Ms Pacman by the entrance.  Goddammit it was fun.  It had a few nerds in there and social rejects playing computer games and some racing game, but it only added to the atmosphere.

I miss arcades.  I grew up in NYC and there were some really cool niche arcades back in the day.  Times Square, before becoming Disney tourist trap hell, had a really cool hole in the wall arcade that had an amazing selection.  I spent so much money on arcades as kid.

Me too, I use to spend tons of time at the local bowling alley just to play Gauntlet or Smash TV.  This place is a true throwback, they really respect the legacy of arcades and most if not all the games are fucking amazing.  My gf actually spotted it a few weeks ago, major propers to her.   8)

Every game there was 1 quarter except for a few racing games.  It is insanely cool.

Oh I also played Super Pacman, unfortunately the table top unit(which had 25+ games to choose from) it was on had a busted analogue stick so I couldn't move left.

Hopefully they fix it, I used to love that game as a kid.

I'm not a big fighting game guy.  But to be honest while I was playing it I thought about getting the new Soul Caliber when it comes out since it has online play.

But to be honest, it wouldn't be the same.  Even though I was just playing the cpu, there is nothing like going to an arcade to experience these games.

Certain games are fantastic to sit on the couch and play, and I don't think fighting games are ideal.  First I would need to get an arcade stick which I don't have the space for, but even still it isn't the same.

Oh werd, where did you used to go?  Laser Park?  Barcode?  Broadway City?  It's a shame how they all shut down due to various stabbings and other acts of violence (although LP might still be open, I don't know).  They have Dave and Busters there now, but it's not the same...ah well, at least you can go to CTF to play fighting games in a dirty hole in the wall environment!

Heh, there are like about five arcades around my area. And they have good shit, too- House of the Dead 4, Daytona USA 1 and 2, Fast and the Furious, all the good stuff.  :-*

Nah, I'm convinced this place is a pet project of some rich SOB(there are tons around here).

There is no way this place could exist outside this wonderful vacuum.

I hope so. I'd take a Wii version, despite the inevitable graphical downgrades...

Japanese arcades went to hell. :( I miss the days of crazy shiz like Pro Trucker and Walk the Dog and Samba de Amigo and that Samurai game.

There is only one Japanese arcade I go to anymore... OMRON in Shin-Koiwa!!!

  • Off Road Thunder - 1 quarter, came in 3rd place, FUN 3D version of Off Road(nitro boost etc)

Do you mean Super Off Road with the four steering wheels?

God I loved that game so much - it was pretty much the most rad arcade machine of all time for me.

Anyone been to Arcade Infinity in Rowland Heights, CA? I hear they get all kinds of Japanese machines, and they just got Basara X.

Seattle sucks for arcades, but I was up in Vancouver, BC recently, and saw that E-Spot had a few Gundam vs. Gundam machines, which made my day.
