What makes it against the law? I don't see anything particularly wrong with it.

Because it's a horrible investment for the buyer?

Not if you eat them right away.

The sell of human flesh kinda went out of vogue in the 1800's. There's always the chance it'll make a comeback though.

Humans are not pieces of property which can be bought and sold to the highest bidder. The main criterion for who gets an adopted baby shouldn't be who has the most cash to give the parents, but rather who will provide the best home for the child.

Very interesting moral question. In the end I think that whoever the parents want to give the baby to, thats who should get it.

Given the other thread where that guy tried to inflate his kid like a zeppelin, I'm not quite so pro-"Craigslist the baby".

Wasn't this the plot of Juno?
Her motivation wasn't to find the parents that would give her the most cash, but the parents that would best raise her child . . . who she found in a penny saver.

Agreed.
It's bad enough that we allow anyone and everyone to reproduce, we definitely shouldn't further perpetuate fuckheads raising fuckhead children.

Well, adoption is basically the equivalent of like, the salvation army. You get rid of the kid ASAP, but you don't really get a return on it. Selling it would take more effort, but you'd actually get a return on your investment of time. I really do not see why you can't sell them. If the thing is the parent's responsibility, why can't they get rid of it in any humane manner? Why is it just adoption? If I got knocked up with a kid I didn't want, I'd want some financial encouragement to not have it aborted.

This post is overflowing with commonsense awesomeness.

If you're cool with the idea of selling to the highest-bidding paedophile, why not.
-
Don't do the crime if you can't do the time. THe amount of men who "aren't ready to be a dad" should be shot since their child won't know them anyway and are probably going to repeat the process. :maf

Think of how much better off the economy would be if we could sell our unwanted children to Walmart. People could go to Walmart, sell their unwanted newborn for maybe 6k-10k dollars, and then use the money to buy cheap clothing (sewed together by children Walmart has purchased) and garbage bags filled with cheap pretzels (twisted by the same children). Allowing women to sell their babies would basically be upping their yearly earnings by 10k, and what harm is being done if the baby is being sold to a responsible patron that won't do harm to the children?

:lol thats so morbid but its true
You should post this on some Conservative board, or on NeoGaf and watch people flip out

If you can sell babies, then there's an incentive for people to keep churning them out. Eventually the gene pool would be dominated by the inferior underclasses who did all the for-profit breeding.

I only have a problem with the word 'eventually', which implies that this is somethign which has not already happened.

Wal-Mart is gonna get 'em anyway, I suppose; why not accelerate the process to mutual benefit? *nods in agreement*
