Family Guy is awful, though.

This is just a trick to make us all watch American Dad as much as possible, isn't it?

We'll keep saying "I dunno, seems like it still sucks" and you'll be all "No, no, just stick with it for a while.  Trust me."  Then finally we catch on and you mock us.

Family Guy is one with the dog, and American Dad is the one with the alien, right?

I really didn't like American Dad at first.  It was a pretty clear cut clone of Family Guy, flashbacks and all.  But they've actually adopted the early Simpsons formula and none of those horrible Family Guy flashback crap.  I really like the most recent season.

Some of the humor has been TOO clever.  I am beginning to wonder if Seth is no longer the actual showrunner.

Mandark, watch this episode on Hulu. (http://www.hulu.com/watch/18245/american-dad-red-october-sky#x-0,vepisode,1)  Tell me it's not reminiscent of The Simpsons heyday and not the usual McFarlane trash.

Ah ha!  This is exactly what my theory predicts you would do!

But okay.

It's still not hysterical or great television, like The Venture Bros., and I'm a firm believer that they need to remove one or two characters (they should kill off the fish) to make it really good.  But it's a definite improvement from what it started out as it and I've found it pretty enjoyable as of late.

I remember I liked an episode where the dad and alien switched places or something. That's all I'm giving you, Willco.

If it's not from this past season, it was probably pretty horrible, Cajole!

It didn't get me to keep watching the show, so I couldn't have liked it that much.

I also really enjoyed the episode where Stan goes to purgatory trial to try and get a second chance on life, only to steal a "heaven gun" from the angel baliff and breaks into Jesus Christ's birthday party.  The mere concept of a heaven gun was pretty great.

edit: robot chicken can be funny.  this can not.  you were a little high and so you giggled at one scene once and now you are comparing it to the simpsons.  it is not worth anybody's time watching this.

but explain the heaven gun thing when you wake up.

There's a video clip and I've explained it in detail, ParticleReality.  Don't bother - he's just mildly distinguished mentally-challenged.

I don't mind early Family Guy episodes, but it just got repetitive after a while.  I don't know if it's gotten better since the only tv I watch is on dvd or Lost.  I feel pretty satisfied with watching the earlier episodes though, I felt like I got everything the show has to offer.

Now American Dad... that's one of those shows that was so awful when I first watched it that I'll continue to hate it no matter who tells me it's great and I'll never watch another episode but continue to crusade against it.  Yep, I'm one of those people.

Yeah. It's the same fucking show basically.

Basically.
