Title: Dear DS developers, the DS is a portable system.
Post by: GilloD on May 29, 2008, 01:29:36 PM
So let's examine what that means-
 -The odds are good that
A- I will be in public
B- In the company of others
-With this in mind
A- Yes, I know it has a microphone, but, no, I'm not going to make monkey noises on the train or yell at my already make-up-case-looking toy to wake someone up
B- I need to save pretty frequently.

So, quit with the LOL USE THE MIC DUMBASS shit and let me save whenever.

can't you just close the system and put it in low-power mode when you're playing those games that stupidly don't allow you to save anywhere?

Normally you can just blow into the mic for it to register whatever is necessary, I thought.

Also, sleep mode. The battery lasts forever in that mode.

Haha, I hate the fucking microphone.

Yeah, but I'll be at work for 8 hours. I'm gonna leave it asleep for 8 hours?

Just rub your finger over the hole, eventually it will trigger. I do this for all games that make me use the microphone. Second option, just blow in the hole.

I have a thing for holes...

Don't you have a CycloDS? It allows Real-Time Saving.

As long as it was charged, it should be fine. I left mine in sleep mode for like 2 weeks before I realized where it was.

RTS doesn't always work so great, though. I do use it, but I'd vastly prefer the game to just have a save function

yeah, guess how much I used the mic-based pins in WEWY

A lot of games do it, but the one that drive me bonkers was Ninja Gaiden. The merchant is sleeping on the bridge and you can't just talk to him or jump on his head, you have to physically YELL at him.

No, you can blow in the microphone

Blowing into the mic doesn't make you look much less distinguished mentally-challenged than making noise into it, if you're in public.  This shit is why I stopped playing Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.

Either you have people staring at you the entire time you're playing or you're horribly self-concious about this.

Ever been in a subway or on a bus?

Yeah, I have, which would address the situation of people staring at you the entire time.  I still feel its a matter of self-concious behavior though.

You don't want to yell ROCK ON on the bus?
Which game asks that out of the player?  :lol

I like the franchise and DS concept in general for the game but that's just fucking distinguished mentally-challenged.

The original fat DS did come with a strap. I've no idea about the Lite though. Never bothered to look in the box further than removing the DS.

On a crowded commuter train full of business folk? Yes, I'm terribly self concious about screaming WAKE UP at a make up case. Even blowing into it. You can earn yourself a reputation.

whoa, seriously?

I actually recently ordered one earlier this week for homebrew and stuff like that.  Does it have save states or something like that?

Yeah, you can save on the fly, but it's really buggy and beta

That is awesome.

I even have a way to rip my DS games because my old homebrew device was a GBA card.

Why would you rip your games? Just download the ROMs... lol

I have tons of saves on my DS games that I assume will also get ripped along with the game.

You can rip saves directly from your game without ripping the game, that's what I did
