Either I am way behind on my Who news, or you completely skipped over the good parts:

Well we all know Russell T Davies is leaving "Doctor Who"

So, what does Steven Moffat showrunning "Doctor Who" mean (apart from giving old LITG columns a Google lift)?

When was the RTD departure announced?  What is he going to do after "Who"?  Was it a voluntary resignation, or is there buzz about him being forced out?  I can't see him leaving of his own free will.

About a week ago it was announced.  Moffat is taking over during the 2010 season, RTD is handling it up until then.  No other details, really.  No mention of what RTD will be doing next, and no mention of whether it was voluntary or not.  I'd assume it was voluntary since from a ratings POV, there was no reason for him to be replaced.

Yeah, that's what I don't get.  Other than whiny internet fans, there was no reason to replace RTD.  So I can't help but think he's got a better opportunity somewhere else.  Or maybe he's just smart enough to realize that Moffat would be the better show-runner.

I just don't think he wants to do the same thing forever.  He also walked away from Queer as Folk while it was a huge success.  He's been doing Doctor Who since 2004 so I'd imagine he wants to do something else while he's hot.

I haven't liked any Neil Gaiman product to which I've been exposed, and any girl who mentions Neil Gaiman in her OKCupid profile gets an automatic 1-star deduction from her personality rating
