That's still not a date. I'll wait and see, they've been promising this for years.

yup.

Yeah, this is great news.

I think I still may prefer the Xbox interface for the time being, but if I can make my PS3 my only gaming console and be happy, I'm all for it.
you are the most disgusting xfag i have ever seen.

Yeah... I can deal with not having universal friends lists and such, but this is hot. Hyperbole alert ahoy, but I'd go so far as to say that it's the most valuable thing that MS has brought to the whole console deal.

You know, I rarely ever use it.
Depends on the game though.

I'm more interested if they update the friendlist functionality (check what games my entire friendlist are playing, instead of highlighting each individual. Being able to see if you can join their session and doing so). The PS3 friendlist now is pretty much crap. You can't do anything with it.

So year of the PS3 confirmed?
Reconfirmed.

I have my Dualshock sitting on my desk, and my copy of MGS2 still sitting in the tray from my last play session....last month.

Could be worse. I've had FFXII in my PS2 for a year now but can't bring myself to finish it.

Oh, i finsished mGS2 again. I played all 3 games again, took notes even.

But that was the last time I used my PS3.
Could be worse. I've had FFXII in my PS2 for a year now but can't bring myself to finish it.

Oh, I knew what you were talking about. Are you getting anything for it in the near future though?

If it provides what you want, then why in the hell wouldn't you be happy about it? Because you feel jilted? That's sort of lame, in a Hilary Clinton sort of way. You don't have to sing the praises of Sony to enjoy getting features you want.

It's a product. I paid 600 euros for this machine, and i still don't have this feature. Will i be happy when i get them? Sure, i'll be pleased.  Sony did a great thing? No. They fucking did their job.  They aren't giving me any feature i haven't seen before so far.

No cheerleading from me son. This goes for all the 3 companies, as if we didn't pay for this crap. What i know is that Xbox live has had this for years, but i don't even play xbox live anymore, because Sony does it for free so fuck it.

Anyway, the invites are what's up, directly jump to an invite from the dashboard. That's what i want.

No cheerleading from me son.

There is, or at least there should be, a pretty damn big difference between being happy to get something that you actually desire, and act like a cheerleader and pretend that there was nothing ever amiss. If Microsoft comes out with a 360 that is, to a realistic extent, free of RROD issues, I'll be happy as hell. That doesn't mean I'd "forgive and forget" the systems that have RROD on me, or the attitude towards the issue that MS upheld for so long. But I'd be happy, visibly so, because I'd be getting something that I've desired for a long time. And if I immediately start bitching about how it was too long in the making, then I'd expect people to call me on it.

On the topic though, at this point I'm wondering exactly how they are going to "sell" people on Home.

It's nice, as you say, but doesn't put away the fact that it should've been here long time ago. That's my stand.

I would like to know how the hell Microsoft will keep justifying the price tag on Xbox live now though.

Lol, those guys are so clueless, everything is going past them, and they don't even see it.
Title: Re: time to sell my 360
Post by: duckman2000 on May 29, 2008, 05:59:53 PM
I don't think MS needs to justify it, though. XBL has been around for a long time now, and has plenty of members that aren't going to simply stop paying for it. The community factor is pretty strong. It'd be nice if everyone could act in beautiful and righteous harmony and boycott the product until it became free (wouldn't take long), but that's obviously not going to happen.

I've taken to reading the weekly PSN threads at GAF in my wait for Wipeout, and it's funny to see how empty they are. I always knew they were all touted up with banners and headers for no reason, but I didn't realize that literally nothing was coming out week to week.

It's funny to see the lambasting XBLA gets  from all corners, but when those same people are in their little safe zone they flatly admit that PSN sucks :lol

I think Sony is just trying to get me to buy Echochrome while I wait and wait.

I can't believe this the year 2008 and these things are still not a part of every gaming system and game.

You what I want?  I want some goddamn games to play on my PS3.  Every time a multiplatform hits, I get the 360 version because that's where the community is.  Home, in-game XMB...fantastic.  Except that there ain't shit to play.   :-\

Let's go over the facts:

As of a month ago, all these extras were roughly estimated to cost 20 or so megs of ram.

now we are hearing in game xmb is going live

then we are told some parts are optional to the devs(like the soundtrack)

bottom line is, it looks like sony is forcing in game cross invites on devs(taking away ~12 megs of ram the last I checked) and offering optional in game soundtracks if they want ot forfit the rest of the ram.

I'm at work and cant find the links to the info.
