VERONICA BELMONT :lol
Cajole rushes out and buys a PS3
lol console owners constantly getting raped with subscription fees and microtransactions.

Which are all shitty. I'd only pay for Xbox live because it provides online play and has some great features. I'd never pay for video content and demos alone. There's no point, I'd rather go to gamersyde and gametrailers than get an IGN or Gamespot subscription (which are multiplatform)Oh god, this is distinguished mentally-challenged.
Yeah it is but it's not different from IGN Subscription, GameSpot complete, Fileplanet or Xbox Live Gold.
And GameStops or EBs "exclusive" content for PC games.
it could be horrible where the nonpaying people will never get the demos.
it could be horrible where the nonpaying people will never get the demos.
Which would be pretty much business as usual for the proud PSN.

Is this your idea of spin?
I hope anyone that uses this wasn't one of those bitching about gamerpics/themes costing money on live.
You know the answer to that.

I know. Just like paying for online on the PS3 would be welcomed as a chance to help alleviate the bandwidth cost incurred by the dozens and dozens of titles with dedicated servers. :punch

What comments are you responding to? I have yet to see a "hurrah" over this. Even the more hardheaded Scunts seem skeptical, at least of its potential negative impact on the free system in place now.

If this gets you into beta's, and gets you some extra DLC and demo's ... doesn't seem bad to me.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. QORE users will likely get the demo a week or so earlier than regular PSN users. Which shouldn't be too big of a deal.

:lol so awesome.
paying for multiplayer on XBL = Good value
not paying for multiplayer on PSN = shit
option to pay for extra content on PSN = shit
The argument over what is worth paying for and what is free will be interesting in the coming weeks. :D
i always wanted to pay for something like inside xbox
kudos sony
XBL offers a large amount of benefits over PSN, free or not. Obviously it takes payments to get a company to actually put together some cohesive online for a console.
And it's not just friend lists and messaging, and guaranteed private games and voice chat, its also having a constant stream of downloadable games with guaranteed demos, and pretty much everything else that's being offered by this Sony package. And most of it trickles down to Silver users too.

I got my 13 months of XBL for $25, and another 13 months for $38.
I'm getting way fucking more for my dollar than on PSN. The PS Store is barren, PSN itself lacks a bevy of basic features, individual games are even worse when it comes to features, and I can't expect demos. Getting High Velocity Bowling themes for free doesn't fix these problems. Or even playing online for free but having to IM my friend with a fucking password to join my CAC game, or feeling like I'm playing alone in Warhawk because no one uses their headset, or feeling like I shouldn't even bother playing because none of my friends play and if they did I wouldn't know they were.
btw - every time I'm reminded of Silvers' one week delay for demos I tear MS a new one. It's fucking dunderheaded and total bullshit to the base.

I've had my PS3 since 3/7/07 and all my multiplayer has been free. You have already paid extra just to do the same thing.

I guess you can't read because we have not been doing the same thing. I actually have a featureset that makes playing online worthwhile while my PS3 plays movies. Not to mention having a reason to check the store more than once every 2 months and shit like demos that even Silver accounts get to enjoy but which are probably funded by Golds.

Buy a 360 and you will stop defending PSN, that I guarantee.
2.40 had better exist and it'd better not only work for certain games or have some other stupid niggle that fucks it up.

Bullshit, dude. I've been a XBL subscriber since the service launched with Ghost Recon back in the day, and I still sing the praises of the free online play that the PSN provides. When I play online, I do so because it's a different type of gaming, not because of any community feel, and I doubt I'm the only one with that mindset. Hell, you are one of four people on my friend's list at this point. I understand the value of XBL to those who value the community features, but it's not appealing to everyone.

Yea, I'm sure there are lots of casual gamers who just want to connect online. It's not worth it for me if I can't play with people I know, I have no interest in playing with a bunch of strangers who might as well be bots.
Do you also have a reason why having more than 5 worthwhile downloadable games is a bad thing? How about renting movies and TV shows? Having organized and commonplace demos? No?

I stand corrected
Renting movies in shitty quality is shit,
It seems like you get Calling All Cars free for subscribing.
WTF guys - this is nothing like "paying for PSN" or "paying for demo's"
You don't pay to play on PSN, but with QORE you pay to download demos and arguably betas through the guise of "invites": "Qore will feature exclusive news, developer interviews, in-depth game previews and behind-the-scenes looks at PlayStation games and special access to game demos, special beta invitations, game add-ons and other downloadable game-related content."
This is not ala' carte trailer/demo download fees.
But there are fees involved: "The introductory price for Qore is $2.99 for a single episode and $24.99 for an annual subscription of 13 episodes, using your PLAYSTATION Network wallet." You can argue that you may not directly pay to access said demos and beta invites, but without paying you wouldn't get to access this content in the first place.
Who cares....
You cared enough to post...
i posted because this is some lame shyt- i cant decide which is worse qore, or this thread.Obviously qore as the thread is a result of it!
i dont subscribe to any of this kinda shyt.....IGN, etc....
also- beta's are a waste of time for the consumer.
stop working for free.....
there are enough real/finished games to play. playing a beta is not some special honor like getting to fly to the moon, etc.
publisher should at least send you free copy of the game after putting in so many beta hours.
i did actually try the MGO beta - for fucks sake I never played it as trying to get it installed/updated was a job.
