This is a joke right? Please tell me that this is just some bad joke for a Seth Rogen comedy about superheroes.
please?

yes, its old news, and yes, its for a more comedic take on the character.
Depending on how Pineapple Express (also at Sony) does, this will or won't happen. Even if its a success, I wouldn't bet on it, but I've been wrong plenty of times before. Just ask my wife* (ba-dum tshhh).
*am not actually married.

It just seems so wrong. Why can't they leave it alone? It's like if Kevin Smith was making it and gave Ben Afleck the part of Britt Ried.
Kevin Smith WAS attached to The Green Hornet some years back.
Oh cmon, is there anybody who really has a deep attachment to The Green Hornet besides the estate of Bruce Lee? I just can't see anybody getting worked up over this.

There are too many "Green" superheroes, what with the Green Lantern and Green Arrow.

Whenever I hear of the Green Hornet, I think of that cartoon that the Fat Albert kids used to watch. Upon looking at wiki, I see the Brown Hornet was a parody of it. I think I prefer the Brown Hornet.
