Quote
However, today Namco Bandai channeled Yoda with the announcement that "there is another." Both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game will feature the Secret Apprentice character from LucasArts' upcoming Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, allowing for proper lightsaber-on-lightsaber duels in a fighting game for the first time since 1997's original PlayStation game Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi.

The Secret Apprentice stars in Force Unleashed as Darth Vader's first Sith underling. Since the game takes place between the events of Episode III and Episode IV (the most recent Star Wars film and the very first Star Wars film), the Secret Apprentice must live up to his name and carry out Vader's orders while keeping his existence under wraps.

I looked up the character.

His name is... "Starkiller."  :-\

Okay Scamco, just throw in Dante and Ryu Hayabusa and Mario and Snake and John Locke and Lucky the Leprechaun already.

This series is an embarrassment.

But yea that's a nod to the original script.

The game takes place between Episode III and IV?  What kinda weird chronology are they using?

Oh, forget it, it's just a damn video game after all.

Oh Namco, why do you continue to taint this series more and more?

Namco, just throw in everyone's favorite Eastern European immigrant into the game, and you twats may have me interested again...

It might be interesting if they had darth maul using a double-bladed lightsaber (that presumably could be split in half).  What they are doing though is product placement for a different game from a different company.  Kinda scary.

On the actual game or just the physics tech?

The disgust at this bemuses me. SCII cleaned up thanks to the different outside characters, and their platform-exclusive nature. Why wouldn't they continue this trend? Isn't Darth Vader more credible than fucking Spawn anyway?  Isn't it better than more clones of the original SC characters? (no more little sisters PLEASE)

Yea but this isn't fan service, it's advertising. At least a far as the third new character.

I hated the McFarlene crap in SC2 as well (Necrid was worse than Spawn, yuck), but from a jaded fanboy perspective, at least in Spawn's case there would have been a Spawn character around during that time period.  Plus he uses an axe in the game, not a light saber.

Star Wars just doesn't fit in with Soul Calibur is all.  I still want to try playing as Yoda though.   :)

That's not quite the main reason it cleaned up. It was the only Soul Calibur to be multi-platform. 1 did pretty damn well on DC. 3 came out on PS3 only, near the end of its life, and no one cared anymore. And this shit sucked in SC2 too.

They should just make Star Wars:Soul Calibur like Koei did with Gundam:Dynasty Warriors.

That trailer made it look like Star Wars the fighting game: guest starring characters from Soul Calibur.

I WANT KOTOR3 with this kind of graphics :(

If you can fit KOTOR3 in a single, big room with two characters at a time, your wish may be granted.

I misread this to mean Bioshock's Little Sisters, and even got so far as to trying to remember what hand-to-hand weapon they wielded (nipple syringe) before realizing you were referring to SC characters' biographies.

We are getting close (at least in fighting games) to the point where bumpmapping is totally unnecessary beacause every little thing & detail is rendered in true 3D (with real polygons).

Awesome.

I believe we will see bumpmapping (or normalmapping) die a slow death in the future.

You are on crack.
